17 Year Old Chopticon Student
Charged with Dealing Dope at School
Two Others also charged with posssession
MORGANZA --- St. Mary's Sheriff's Cpl. Jack Payne reports
that on 04/27/04 DFC Randall J. Wood responded to Chopticon High School for a
reported CDS Violation. In an investigation performed in conjunction with school staff,
two (2) male juveniles, aged 15 (10th grade) and 17 (11th grade) were found to be in
possession of Marijuana. Seized from the 15 year old was 8.06 grams of Marijuana valued at
$60.00. Seized from the 17 year old was 9.57 grams valued at $75.00. Both juveniles were
arrested by DFC Wood and charged with Possession of Marijuana.
Additionally, the 17 year old was charged with Distribution of Marijuana. Both juveniles
were released to a parent. Further
action is pending through the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Arrest / Open Escape Warrant: On 04/27/04 at 1359 hours Corporal
John E. Payne arrested James Sterling Thompson, 41, of Great Mills on an outstanding
District Court Bench Warrant alleging he failed to turn himself into the Detention Center
on 11/21/03 to serve a 30 weekend sentence on an unrelated charge. Thompson was
incarcerated at the Detention Center to awaiting bond review.
Property Destruction: Sometime between 04/26/04 at 0845 and
04/27/04 at 0930 hours unknown culprit(s) used an unknown sharp object to puncture all
four tires and scratch the paint on a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier owned by Samantha Brodigan,
20, of Lexington Park. The incident happened while the vehicle was parked at her
residence. Total loss value
is estimated at over $200.00. DFC Harold D. Young is investigating.
Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle: On 04/27/04 between 0730-1300
hours, unknown culprit(s) entered an unlocked 1992 Honda owned by Russell Dobson, 52, of
Lexington Park, parked at Great Mills High School, and stole a Pioneer Radio face
plate and 15 compact discs. Total loss value is $420.00. DFC Harold D. Young is
investigating.
Arrest / Open Assault Warrant: On 04/27/04 at 1527 hours DFC
Harold D. Young arrested Ellis Loren Heckler ,40, of Lexington Park on an outstanding
District Court Arrest Warrant for Second Degree Assault. DFC Young was responding to a
disturbance on Kearsarge Place in Lexington Park when he located Heckler inside of a
residence and knew him to be
wanted on the open warrant. Heckler was arrested without incident and transported to the
Detention Center to await bond review.
