McKay's Lies
To the Editor:
I would like to respond to the
letter I received from Thomas McKay's campaign entitled
"McKay for Southern Maryland". I found this letter to
be amusing, but then I've always been partial to works
of fiction. I will leave it to the voters of Southern
Maryland to interpret the political spin doctoring in
this letter. But there is one part of it that I found
particularly offensive. He writes, "My opponent has
chosen to lodge personal attacks on my family and me,
over the course of the past two years, rather than talk
about his record." That is not political spin; that is
a bold faced lie!
Senator Roy Dyson's campaigns have
always focused on his extensive record of representing
Southern Maryland in both Annapolis and Washington.
Personal attacks have never been his style, and I hope
that never changes. Mr. McKay probably wishes that
Senator Dyson would attack him personally. That would
shift the focus of this campaign away from the issues
and turn it into a mud-slinging contest. While that
would certainly help Mr. McKay's campaign, it would be a
great disservice to the voters of Southern Maryland. I
hope Senator Dyson will not take the bait.
In Mr. McKay's letter, he states
that he is "not perfect". Truer words have never been
written. None of us are perfect. Every pot of gold
contains a little sand. Please don't let Mr. McKay
further contaminate it by throwing in more dirt.
