Why huge increases in property taxes?

To the Editor:

I wonder what is the basis for this outrageous tax hike. .Someone in Annapolis needs to check the housing market in this area.. Houses are not selling period.. How can anyone say what my property is worth when no one will buy it. The rule of sales is an item is only worth, what another person is willing to pay for it. The new tax assessment on my house will make my tax bill higher than my monthly mortgage. I thought the Democratic party was suppose to be the party of the working man (or woman) This whole tax situation is taking food off of the working man's table. That is not suppose to be the goal of the Democratic party. Next I wonder if the same outrageous tax hike was applied to Baltimore or Prince Georges County. you know , the areas of the State that strongly supported Governor O'Malley. How come St. Mary's County was the target.? The financial needs of this state are being met with the increase in sales tax increases in withholding and other increases, there is no need to beat up the home owners. Please next time you vote, Dump the professional politician and elect a carpenter or brick layer any one who has had to work for a living and struggled to raise a family.
