Berlin Man Charged with Murder

(Berlin, MD) – After consultation with the Worcester County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation (WBCI), with the assistance of the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit, have charged a Berlin man today in connection with a murder that occurred yesterday in Berlin.

The accused is identified as Roberto Antonio Murillo, 28, of the unit-block of Deep Channel Drive, Berlin, Md. He is charged with first degree murder, and first and second degree assault. Murillo is incarcerated in the Worcester County Detention Center without bond.

Murillo is charged with the murder of Cecilia D. Parker, 56, of Berlin, Md. Parker was found by troopers lying on the floor unconscious inside her home located in the unit-block of Deep Channel Dr. shortly after 12:00 p.m. yesterday. Fire department personnel determined the victim was deceased at the scene.

The investigation began when one of the victim’s coworkers responded to her residence to check on her welfare after she failed to show up for work yesterday morning.

When the coworker arrived at the home, he determined the victim was in need of medical assistance.

When investigators arrived at the scene, they saw what appeared to be injuries on the victim’s body. The cause and manner of death have not been determined at this time.

The victim’s body has been transported to the Office of the State Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.

Detectives developed leads into this crime and identified Murillo as a suspect late last night. Murillo was taken to the State Police Berlin Barracks where he was interviewed by investigators and ultimately charged.

The Worcester County Bureau of Investigation is comprised of personnel from the Maryland State Police Berlin Barracks, Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Berlin Police Department, Pocomoke Police Department, and the Worcester County State’s Attorney’s Office.
