Cops Bust Bank Robber Tracked by Citizen

WALDORF --- Charles County Sheriff’s officers report that a man who walked into the PNC bank on Rt. 301 in Waldorf on Monday just after 11 am, showed he had a gun and demanded money, left with the loot and walked to his getaway car at the nearby Bowling Alley.

What the bank robber didn’t know is that a citizen spotted him and called the cops while following the bank robber south on Rt. 301, giving updates on his trail as he tracked the fleeing felon for the police.

When officers responded to the bank robbers location on Rt. 301 and tried to stop him, the robber crashed his car into a small barrier and tried to beat feet.

The jig was up for Mann Thomas Ward II, 41, of Newburg, who would have better spent his time flipping burgers at McDonalds but instead went off to the slammer.

He was charged with armed robbery and remanded to the Charles County Detention Center with no bond. Detectives are in the process of determining if this robbery was related to the bank robbery that occurred on Halloween at the M & T Bank in Waldorf.

At almost the same time of day as the Monday robbery, as if the suspect is on a schedule or has to catch a bus, a robber waltzed into the bank at the St. Charles Mall and slipped a teller a note advising that he wanted the loot, implied he had a weapon and left with cash.
