COAST GUARD AIRCREWS RESCUE FOUR FISHERMEN

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Two Coast Guard helicopter crews from Air Station Atlantic City rescued four fishermen Wednesday who were aboard a life raft after they abandoned their 97-foot fishing boat 30 miles west of Point Pleasant, N.J.

Rescued were William Albert, William Albert, Jr., Roy Rogers and Ron Cox.

The Coast Guard received a Mayday call at 8:45 p.m. from a crewman aboard the Captain Joe reporting they were taking on water and abandoning ship. The helicopter crews arrived on scene and located all four fishermen aboard the life-raft.

The aircrews hoisted the men aboard their helicopters and transported them to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Manasquan, N.J., for treatment.

All four men were later released from the hospital. The Captain Joe sank 30 miles off shore.
