Cops Collar Drugstore Desperado

LUSBY ---  Calvert investigators from the joint State Police and Calvert Sheriff's joint criminal investigation team cracked the case of the drugstore bandit and on the day before Thanksgiving collared the alleged bandit.

 The suspect in the armed robbery at the Friendly Pharmacy in Lusby on October 30 and the Giant Pharmacy in Lusby on November 17 has been arrested.   After receiving a tip from anonymous citizens to the Calvert County Crime Solvers tip line, investigators with the Calvert Investigative Team were led to Travis Allan Phifer, 28 of Lusby. 

Phifer was arrested at his home on November 26 and charged with 2 counts of armed robbery, two counts of theft, two counts of second degree assault and two counts of false imprisonment for the October 30th robbery. 

He was also charged with one count of robbery in the November 17th case.  Investigators are appreciative of the actions of the citizens who called in their information to Crime Solvers.   It is an excellent example of the police and the public working together to keep our communities safe.







Dangerous Drugstore Druggie  Demands Pills

Drug crazed robber grabs prescription drugs from one pharmacy, tries to rob another

 

On November 17, 2008 at approximately 1:58 pm Calvert County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Giant Store located on Rousby Hall Road, Lusby, Calvert County, Maryland for an attempted armed robbery at the pharmacy.  Upon arrival deputies learned an unknown white male approached the pharmacist and demanded a popular pain medication.  The suspect inferred the he possessed a handgun. He was denied the medication and fled the store. The suspect is described as 5’06”-5’08”, thin built, white male; he was wearing, a light gray hooded sweatshirt with “Hershey’s” across the chest and dark pants.  The subject was seen leaving in a silver Nissan Maxima with tinted windows. The suspect had dirty blond facial hair.  No one was injured during the attempted robbery.  This investigation is being handled by Sgt. T. Fridman with the Calvert Investigative Team.

On 10/30/2008 at approximately 1050 hours a similar incident occurred at The Friendly Pharmacy, located on Town Square Drive, Lusby, Calvert County, Maryland.  A subject matching the aforementioned suspect’s description entered the pharmacy displaying a 6-8” kitchen knife and demanded a popular pain medication.  The suspect left with an unknown amount of the demanded medication.  A red Chevy S-10 Extreme was seen leaving the scene.  No one was injured during this robbery.
