--- NRP Police spokesman Sgt.
Ken Turner reports that on Monday,
Nov. 5, at 4:20 a.m., the Maryland
Natural Resources Police charged
William Francis Wilkins, 20, of
Charlotte Hall, Claude Daniel
Caltrider, 43, of Dryfork, W. Va.,
and Gary Daniel Caltrider, 20, of
Annandale, Va. with multiple hunting
violations near Charlotte Hall.
The
incident started at 2:36 a.m. when a
St. Mary’s County deputy noticed
blood dripping from the rear door of
the van the three men occupied. The
deputy made contact with the three
as they were dragging an 11-point
antlered deer across the lawn of a
residence on Triangle Drive.
NRP was
called to the scene and charged all
three men with casting rays of
artificial
light on fields or woodland while
having a weapon in possession
capable of killing deer, hunting at
nighttime, hunting deer with a
firearm during closed season, and
using a rifle to hunt deer in a
county restricted to shotgun only. A
court date of Dec. 7 has been
scheduled for the three men in St.
Mary’s County District Court.
