Mayor Adrian M. Fenty and
Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy
L. Lanier announced the take
down of 11 members of the
LeDroit Park Crew, a violent
drug and crime organization.
Nearly 200 members of the
Metropolitan Police Department,
the Federal Bureau of
Investigation and the United
States Marshals Service executed
11 search warrants at
approximately 6:30 am in the 200
block to 400 block of W Street,
NW.
Today's take down is as a result
of an extensive investigation
into a violent drug organization
which authorities believe is
tied to as many as 42 violent
crimes throughout the District,
including six murders and
numerous armed robberies and
assaults with intent to kill.
Arrest warrants have also been
issued for eight adults and two
juveniles.
“Today's arrests are a severe
blow to this crew, and sends a
clear message that they cannot
terrorize innocent people
without suffering the
consequences,” said Chief
Lanier.
“This is yet another example of
top-notch police work by our MPD
investigators and officers,”
said Mayor Fenty. “On behalf of
the entire city, I applaud Chief
Lanier and the entire department
for a job well done. This
operation will have a major
impact on the quality of life
for residents of LeDroit Park as
well as the surrounding
neighborhoods.”
“My thanks to the United States
Attorneys office and the Office
of the Attorney General for
processing these indictments. I
am asking that the subjects
taken into custody be held
pending court proceedings so
they can't harm anyone else,”
said Chief Lanier.
The Metropolitan Police
Department is asking that anyone
with information about this
crew, or any other crime in the
city to call the Department's
