Heathen Christmas in St. Mary's Ends in Trip to Slammer After Assault on Deputy for Man Charged With Whacking Woman

COLTON'S POINT --- St. Mary's Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Steve Hall reports that on December 24, 2007 at approximately 11:00AM Deputy First Class Carberry responded to Colton’s Point Maryland for a reported Domestic Assault. The investigation revealed the suspect, Michael Jeffery McCurry, 25, of Colton’s Point, Maryland had assaulted the victim during an argument. DFC Carberry and SDFC Butler attempted to place McCurry under arrest for the domestic assault, and he resisted. He was eventually arrested and placed into a police cruiser. While transporting the suspect to the Detention Center he became combative and started to kick to the cage area inside the cruiser. DFC Carberry and Butler stopped and attempted to restrain the suspect’s legs and the suspect kicked DFC Carberry in the face and chest. He was successfully restrained, charged with two counts of Assault 2nd Degree (Domestic Assault and Assault on DFC Carberry) and Resisting Lawful Arrest and taken to Detention Center pending a bond hearing before the District Court Commissioner.

Narcotics detectives help fill the Inn as 15 are arrested for Christmas gathering in the Hotel St. Mary's

So why did the drug dealer on the right choose Lexington Park to sell his big horde of drugs?  Was this the territory he was assigned, did he just hear that the local populace of losers were such determined deadheads that they would rather buy drugs than Christmas presents for their kids?   See more

Christopher Ireland may not be home for Christmas as he was one of 15 arrested in drug stings in recent days by St. Mary's Narcotics detectives of the Sheriff's Dept. and Maryland State Police.  Next in line is Thomas Evans; Next is Brittany Mackall; Next is Andrew Klock; Next is Timothy Brooks. Finally: A Fair Deal for Marquerite Barnes

St. Mary's Commissioners, left to right, Larry Jarboe (R. Golden Beach), Dan Raley (D. Great Mills) and Kenny Dement (R. Piney Point), form the basis for most changes to zoning laws which aid individuals and limit the restrictions of government on the homeowner while also opposing intrusions into the Rural Preservation District by large developers, such as the latest proposal by Chaney Enterprises to be able to develop a gravel mine in Loveville into a large tract of new homes.
Right, photo of the home of Marquerite Barnes, located on Millstone Landing Road, where she wanted to replace this old early 60's model single wide home with a new double-wide home, on her own land.  Under the county's zoning ordinance she was forced to pay $600 for the privilege to appear before the Zoning Board of Appeals to request a variance.  That panel, despite the advise of the land use director, passed on their authority to grant the variance and told her no, as the new double wide she had contracted to buy from Lord Calvert Homes was slightly larger than a 50 percent increase.  Other such examples of homeowners being forced to stay in old and unsafe housing exist around the county.

This program may not be what the politically correct might assume.  It was 1954 and there was a breakdown in law and order as millions of Mexicans poured through the border. The greed of American farmers for low-wage workers was the root cause of the illegal immigrant problem.  Learn more about the history of Operation Wetback.   President Eisenhower took quick action to stop the exploitation of Mexican workers, reign in corrupt US officials and kick out illegal immigrants.  Report from Christian Science Monitor

U. S. Rep. Steny Hoyer voted against the AMT because he considered the bill to be fiscally irresponsible, according to his senior advisor, John Bohanan.  "Steny voted no because the bill didn't provide for how funding will occur and to not do so is simply unsound fiscal policy and we have had enough of that."

I am confused why Steny Hoyer voted NO to stop the increase in taxes due the AMT trap.  Does he want his constituents to unfairly pay more taxes to the Federal government?  Can you ask him why all the other Maryland Democrats voted Yes?  And Gilchrest; was he sleeping or just not interested. Maryland Higher Ed Enrollment Up

Sun report: Victim of Baltimore bus beating tells of her relentless attack by swarm of middle school students

Bay District VFD:

Issues such as; is the new deputy chief qualified to hold the post, proper training for firefighters, members failing to speak up over poor training of younger members, traditional problems of older members holding on too long while younger members aren't yet ready to take over volunteer departments are discussed in a give and take which is anonymous and replete with foul words, but the issues raised ought to give the public at large doubt about the leadership of the busiest fire department in St. Mary's County, at The Watchdesk, a forum where firefighters sound off without fear of reprisal.
Reader Feedback:
There is a consensus in the ranks that's amazes us that there has not been a fatality due to the total lack of leadership at that department . They need some new blood in a bad way , there is a reason there is little experience in that department , because they go out of their way to chase it away .  1 concerned citizen

Bel Alton VFD;

Firefighters debate whether a fire truck available for service but outside of it's first due should respond to an emergency call: For those not involved in the fire service, this seems like a silly question, as pointed out by one firefighter in this banter, but the fact that arguments over the 'sandbox' take place ought to bring more enlightenment on how the fire service functions.  Again, this involves some vulgar language.

Reader Asks Mexican Merchant to Respect US Laws on

Display of Flag

To the Editor:

I wanted to send this in concern of a local shop owner from Mexico who has hung his countries flag over our flag on the wall outside his business.  I hope it is out of not knowing flag etiquette and he just made a mere mistake.  I am also sending this out because we as Americans need to be a lot more aware that freedom doesn't come without a price!  We all came to this country because we either wanted a better life or our families wanted a better life to succeed and to make a legacy within one's family so we'd be opted those opportunities that were not available in our home lands.  I hope each of you will become more aware of the responsibility we as Americans have to know our history and also to clearly correct or question things that look out of place.
Respectfully,
Dirk Graves

Hats off to a True American!
Hats off, and salutes to the local reader, Dick Graves for action above and beyond regular good citizens. He is a true American and deserves our thanks. Nothing hits closer to heart and home than disrespect of the American Flag. For those of you, who need a little motivation, go on line and listen, and read John Wayne’s “
America, and Why I Love Her”. For those who need a little education I offer this; The Etiquette of the U.S. Flag.  SEMPER FI and Carry On!

Are employees of Building 588 getting the run-around

over Asbestos leak at Pax River NAS?

Is this building safe, if so, why have employees been given contradictory information?  In the past week, employees say that they have been told the building is safe in spite of a bag of asbestos leaking from a hole in the bag inside that building, with a temper tantrum by one employee causing the bag to be slammed onto a desk, causing it to leak significantly, with asbestos flying through the air.  Then a private firm was brought in to conduct an assessment of the contamination, then today, the building was evacuated.  What should employees believe?  Safe?  Then why are there armed guards at the entrances to the building?  A meeting was held to clear the air prior to the weekend, what steps are being taken now?   Details developing...
