Baltimore County -
On Saturday, Sept. 15, the
Maryland Natural Resources
Police (NRP) charged David Mark
Grebe, 47, of Baltimore with
hunting deer with the aid of
bait on a state park. Grebe was
hunting in the Hilltop Road
hunting area of Patapsco Valley
State Park after allegedly
placing commercially prepared
powder bait around the area of
his tree stand.
Baiting involves the placing,
exposing, depositing,
distributing or scattering of
shelled, shucked or unshucked
corn, wheat or other grain,
salt, or other feed that would
lure, attract, or entice game
to, on, or over any areas where
hunters are attempting to hunt.
A
person may not hunt, shoot, or
kill, or attempt to hunt, shoot,
or kill a game bird or a mammal
by the aid of bait, on or over a
baited area on any State-owned
or State-controlled properties
open to public hunting. The
maximum penalty for a person
found guilty of this offense is
$500 for a first time offender.
Garrett County -
On Wednesday, Sept. 12, the
Maryland Natural Resources
Police charged
Timmy Wayne Gordon, 39, of
Oakland with hunting deer at
night and hunting deer during
closed season. NRP received a
complaint through the
Catch-a-Poacher Hotline that
Gordon had allegedly shot an
eight-point whitetail buck from
a window of his residence on the
night of Tuesday, Sept. 11. NRP
seized the buck as evidence.
A
court date of Feb. 21, 2008, has
been scheduled for Gordon in
Garrett County District
Court.
The
Maryland Natural Resources
Police remind people that
hunting at night is not only
illegal; it is also unsafe. In
addition, NRP encourage citizens
to report illegal hunting
activities by calling the
Catch-a-Poacher 24-Hour Hotline
at 1-800-635-6124. The anonymity
of the caller is
guaranteed.
Garrett County -
On Wednesday, Sept. 12, the
Maryland Natural Resources
Police charged four from
Kitzmiller with hunting
violations.
Jeffery Zachariah Brady, 18, and
two juveniles, ages 16 and 17,
were charged with hunting deer
at night and hunting deer during
closed season. Jimmy Junior
Lipscomb, 40, was charged with
hunting deer during closed
season. The four allegedly shot
an eight-point whitetail buck in
Kitzmiller Park on the night of
Tuesday, Sept. 11.
A
court date of Feb. 21, 2008, has
been scheduled for Brady and
Lipscomb in Garrett County
District Court. The two
juveniles were referred to the
Department of Juvenile
Services.
Garrett County -
On Saturday, Sept. 15, the
Maryland Natural Resources
Police charged Paul Allen Brock,
22, of Oakland with hunting
deer during closed season and
hunting without a license off of
Sang Run Road near Oakland. NRP
charged Brock after
investigating a report of an
individual hunting deer with a
rifle on the Garrett County
landfill property near Oakland.
A
court date of Feb. 21, 2008, has
been scheduled for Brock in
Garrett County District Court.
