To the Editor:
I am one of those Democrats you say that has his head in the sand. But the republican position has their collective heads in a part of the anatomy we won't talk about for now. Drilling in ANWR would be just plain stupid. There is about a 7 months national supply from that site and it would take years to bring it to market.
There are leases in the Gulf of Mexico that oil companies could have been drilling for years they also could have been building refineries but that would add to supply and they and the Republicans want supplies tight.
What could happen now is drive speculators from the market, at least those that do not intend to take delivery of the product. Testimony before congress last week by oil industry executives and the commodities market analyst all said the price of oil should be no more than $70.00 a barrel.
Please now tell me who has his head where. For crying out loud get informed instead of spouting the republican party line nonsense. For those of you who remain uninformed the raising of CAFE standards to 50 MPG would reduce oil consumption in half. Again I say get informed and stop this bashing of democrats.
If your readers will watch C-Span and verify information with Google searches they too will begin to understand this country is run and owned by big business and that Congress, Republicans and Democrats pay homage to these world citizens. American business exists in name only.
