July 4th Hoedown & Fireworks

Deep Creek Lake, MD      1) A square dance.  2) The music for a square dance.  3) A social gathering at which a square dance takes place.

Families, friends, visitors, residents of Garrett County and everyone in between are invited to celebrate our nation's independence day in the Mountains of Western Maryland at Wisp Resort with an old-fashioned Hoedown on July 4th from 4pm until the slopeside fireworks go off at dark.  Guests can partake in hayrides around the resort and backyard games such as hula hoop contest, potato sack races and other family games.

Be sure to bring a blanket to sprawl on the lawn and enjoy live entertainment or slip into your cowboy boots and join in.  Our Hoedown wouldn'tt be complete without an authentic square and line dance caller.  Pete Bray and the Mountaintop Promenaders from Frostburg, Maryland will be entertaining and instructing the crowd with classic line and square dancing.  Country band Takoma Park from Cumberland, Maryland will be performing on the outdoor stage from 5pm until 8pm.  As soon as Mother Nature turns the lights off, the fireworks will light up the sky over Wisp Resort.

No admission fee, open to the public.   Backyard BBQ-style food and drink will be available for purchase.  All events are to be held outdoors, weather permitting.  In case of inclement weather, the event will move inside the Lodge at Wisp.  YEE-HAW!

Wisp Resort lies in the heart of Garrett County, Marylands westernmost county.  Established in 1955, Wisp Resort is Maryland's only 4-season destination resort offering year-round recreational activities.  Wisp Resort is less than a 2-hour drive from Pittsburgh, 3-hour drive from the Baltimore / DC Metropolitan area and less than a 45-minute drive from Morgantown, WV and Cumberland, MD.
