Five License Holders Sold Booze to Underage Patrons

On 04-12-08 between 1000 and 1700 hours Senior Deputy First Class Emory Johnson and  Senior Deputy First Class D.T. Ross of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office along with an underage Confidential Informant conducted an underage controlled buy for alcohol compliance checks county wide.  Eighteen (18) establishments were visited with thirteen (13) establishments passing the compliance checks. Five (5) establishments failed the compliance checks and made sales to the informant.

The following establishments passed the compliance checks:  Leonardtown Sunoco, Guenther's Wine & Spirits, Center Liquors, Back Roads In, Third Base Store, Hill's Store, Mc Kay's Charlotte Hall, Market Place Fine Wine & Spirits (Mc Kay's), Stone's Store, Fred's Liquors, Club 911, Korner Karryout, and Brewski's.

The following establishments failed the compliance checks and made sales to the underage informant:  DJ's One Stop, Light House Liquors, Chaptico Market, St. Mary's Landing and Cartwright's Texaco.  The employees that made the sales to the underage informant were issued citations for furnishing alcoholic beverage to a person less than 21 years of age.  The establishments which made sales will be brought before the Alcohol Board for review.
