LOVEVILLE (Nov. 21, 2007) --- Booze cited as cause of Sunday wreck on Rt. 247; charges pending against driver.  That's the word from St. Mary's Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Steve Hall, who said that charges are pending against Michael Tayman, 21, who blew a stop sign at Bishop Road in a Toyota and pulled out into the path of a Silverado operated by Mildred Harrison, 71.  Harrison was flown to a trauma unit where she was first listed in critical condition.
"This is yet another avoidable crash," said Sheriff Tim Cameron, "she is listed in stable condition now with bleeding from the brain." Cameron said that he will be providing more resources towards combating drunk driving and speeding, with a special program being designed with the help of a local doctor which will involve the school system and focus on getting the attention of young drivers.
The Sheriff said that a blood alcohol test performed on Tayman will reveal his amount of alcohol consumption and determine the charges to be placed against him.
