Furnace Causes Fire

WHITE PLAINS (Oct. 1, 2007) Maryland State Deputy Fire Marshal Jeff Frye reports that a faulty furnance started a fire in a home on Marshalls Corner Road in White Plains on Sunday at 3:42 pm.

More than 25 firefighters from Bryans Road, La Plata, Waldorf and Bel Alton responded to the fire and brought it under control in 15 minutes, with about $20,000 damage caused by the fire.

A smoke alarm was present and working, reports Fire Marshal Frye.  The one-story wood frame dwelling is owned by Garner Burroughs.
