Retailers in Region Easy Prey for

Thieving Heathens from DC and PG

DC gang ripped off Prince Frederick store and ran from cops on way back to the hell-hole of DC where they are used to running wild with lenient judges and silly prosecutors....but these guys flipped out on Rt. 4 and were caught!

PRINCE FREDERICK (March 17, 2009) ----  Calvert County Sheriff's officers report that a gang who ripped off the Office Depot and fled ended up as house guests in various hospitals and they will bring charges of theft against them.

Police say that on Friday, March 13 at 1:04 p.m. the Calvert County Control Center issued a lookout for a vehicle that was involved in a shoplifting at the Office Depot store on Costley Way in Prince Frederick.

A store employee advised Det. Cari Ray of the Criminal Investigative Team that 2 black males entered the store, filled a red Office Depot bag with 4 Panasonic telephones, and left the store without paying.

They entered a vehicle and fled the parking lot heading northbound on Md. Rt. 4.  An attempt to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle by several Calvert County deputies was not successful and a pursuit ensued.

Police say that the suspect vehicle, traveling northbound on Md. Rt. 4 at a rate of over 100 miles per hour, crashed in the median just south of Ward Road in Dunkirk, flipping over and coming to rest on the roof.

All three occupants of the vehicle were transported to area hospitals.  The driver, who would not initially give his name, was determined to be Robert Derrick Smith, 47 of Upper Marlboro. Smith was transported via Trooper 2 to PG Shock Trauma in Cheverly.

Smith allegedly took his mother’s car, without permission, and drove to Calvert County. Charges of possession of drug paraphernalia (a glass pipe), reckless endangerment, false imprisonment, resisting arrest, theft over $500 and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle are pending.

The front seat passenger, later identified as Wayne Robinson, 53 of Washington, DC, was taken to Calvert Memorial Hospital.  Charges of theft over $500 are pending.  The third occupant, a 45-year-old female from Washington, DC, was treated at Calvert Memorial Hospital and released.

Police report that Robert Derrick Smith has been released from the hospital and is wanted by the Sheriffs Office. Wayne Robinson was served with an arrest warrant on March 14 at 7:15 p.m. at the Detention center on his charge of theft over $500.

Court records show prior convictions of Smith, who also has an address on Minnesota Ave. in N.E. Washington, for theft and he has failed to appear in court on charges of driving without a license.
