St. Mary's Schools See Boost in Enrollment

 

LEONARDTOWN, MD – St. Mary’s County Public Schools releases its official enrollment for the 2007-2008 school year, subject to state review and finalization.  The September 30, 2007 enrollment is 16,922 students in grades preschool special education through evening high school. 
This is an increase of 255 students over the official enrollment of 16,667 for the 2006-2007 school year. 
The school system projected an increase of 221 new students, for a net difference of 34 students over projection. 
This increase is based on a gain of 230 elementary school students (including pre-school and Judy Hoyer Center students), a loss of 23 middle school students, a gain of 50 high school students, and a loss of 10 evening high school students. 
The overall enrollment projections were 99.8 percent accurate with a 99.1 percent accuracy rate at the elementary school level, a 98.5 percent accuracy rate at the middle school level, and a 99.6 percent accuracy rate at the high school level.
