Gas Station Latest Victim of Armed
Robbers
WALDORF --- Charles
Cops report that on July 8 at 10:17
p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers
responded to the 6600 block of Crain
Highway in La Plata for the report of an
armed robbery at a gas station.
Investigation revealed that two suspects
entered the business, approached a
clerk, displayed a handgun and demanded
money. The victim complied and the
suspects fled on foot. Although the
suspects escaped, a Charles County K-9
officer and his K-9 partner, Erno,
tracked the area and recovered some of
the stolen money.
The suspects are
described as white males in their late
teens or early twenties. They were
wearing masks, tee shirts and shorts.

Salt &
Pepper Robbers Injure Teen in Cell Phone
Robbery
WALDORF --- On July 8
between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., Charles
County Sheriff’s officers responded to
the 12500 block of Council Oak Drive in
Waldorf for the report of an attempted
robbery. Investigation revealed that the
victim, a 16-year-old Waldorf male, and
a friend were walking toward an
apartment building when they were
approached by three suspects. The
suspects began assaulting the victim and
attempted to steal his cell phone. The
victim broke free and fled. He was
treated at a nearby hospital for minor
injuries.
One of the suspects
is described as a white male in his late
teens, 6’0", slim build, and wearing a
black hooded shirt with a white skull on
the front. The other two suspects are
described as black males in their late
teens. One is 5’5", has a slim build,
and was wearing an orange or tan hooded
shirt and a black skull cap. A detailed
description of the other suspect is not
available. Officer J. Clagett is
investigating.
Grafitti-rama Painted
LA PLATA --- On July
8 at 6:14 A.M., Charles County Sheriff’s
officers responded to Golfarama at 5075
Crain Highway in La Plata for the report
of vandalism. Investigation revealed
that during the early morning hours, the
suspect(s) entered the driving range and
spray painted symbols on the side of a
garage located at the rear of the
property. Officer P. Hood is
investigating.

Charge Two With
Dealing Drugs
LEONARDTOWN (July 10,
2008) Vice-Narcotics Detectives began an
investigation into Charles Ray Reid (Age
20 of Mechanicsville) and his
distribution of marijuana. A controlled
purchase of marijuana was made and
Search and Seizure warrants were
executed.
Marijuana, packaging
materials and ledgers were discovered.
Suspect Reid was charged with
Distribution of Marijuana and Possession
with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana.
He was being held on
$45,000.00 cash bond pending a hearing
before the District Court Commissioner.
An Indictment is pending a State’s
Attorney’s Office and Grand Jury review.
In an unrelated
investigation, over a several month
period Vice Narcotics Detectives made
purchases in various amount of crack
cocaine from Suspect Devone Artice Hall
(Age 20 of Chaptico, Md.).
His operation was
located in the northern end of St.
Mary’s County. Search Warrants led to
the recovery of cocaine, money, handguns
and a vehicle was seized as well. He was
arrested on three (3) open Grand Jury
Indictments for Distribution of Cocaine
and additional charges are pending.
Gunmen Prowl at Rush Hour Looking for
Victims
WALDORF — On July 7
at 5:51 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s
officers responded to the 6000 block of
Thoroughbred Court in Waldorf for the
report of a citizen armed robbery.
Investigation revealed that the victim
was walking to her car when the suspect
approached, displayed a gun and demanded
money. The victim complied and the
suspect fled.
At 7 a.m., officers
responded to the 6200 block of Wolverine
Place in Waldorf for the report of a
citizen armed robbery. The victim said
she was putting her purse in her car
when the suspect approached, displayed a
gun and demanded her purse. The victim
screamed and the suspect fled toward a
wooded area; he did not obtain any
money.
Both victims
described the suspect as a black male
who was wearing a black, hooded
sweatshirt and a black bandana; he was
armed with a gun. Anyone with
information is asked to call the Major

Cops Play
Ring Around the Posey
INDIAN HEAD — On
July 6 at 10:13 p.m., Charles County
Sheriff’s officers responded to the 4700
block of Strauss Avenue in Indian Head
after receiving information that Avery
Dexter Posey, 44, of Indian Head, was at
that residence; Posey was wanted for
failing to appear in court for traffic
related offenses. When officers arrived,
the occupants of the house said Posey
was not there. Officers observed Posey
inside the house, made entry, and
arrested him without incident. One of
the residents, Eric Stephen Adams, 34,
of Indian Head was charged with
hindering; charges are pending against
another resident. Posey was remanded to
the Charles County Detention Center.

Why the
Sam Hill Did Hill Flee from Cop?
WALDORF — On July 5
at 9 p.m., a Charles County Sheriff’s
officer observed a traffic violation on
Rivermont Drive in Waldorf. As the
officer initiated a traffic stop, the
driver fled to the intersection of
Rivermont and Fowler Court. The driver
jumped from the car and fled on foot but
was apprehended a short distance away.
The driver, Anthony DeWayne Hill, 39, of
Waldorf, had open warrants including one
for child support. In addition, he was
charged with fleeing and eluding and
driving with a suspended and revoked
Maryland driver’s license. He was
remanded to the Charles County Detention
Center. Officer J. Walter investigated.
Stabbing
Failed to Kill
WALDORF — On July
2 at 6:52 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s
officers responded to the 5800 block of
Hammerhead Court in Waldorf for the
report of a stabbing. Investigation
revealed the victim, a 17 year old
Waldorf resident, was involved in a
physical altercation with the suspect, a
22 year old male from Waldorf. During
the fight, the suspect produced a knife
and stabbed the victim multiple times.
The suspect fled and the victim was
transported to a nearby hospital where
he was treated for non life-threatening
injuries. Investigators have obtained an
arrest warrant charging the suspect with
first degree assault, second degree
assault, reckless endangerment and
carrying a dangerous weapon. Officer C.
