Steny Hoyer: do you listen to the people in
your district or only to the people in
Washington?
Our Reader Poll shows that 15% of our readers want Steny and Obama to tamper with health care, while a whopping 85% tell them to keep their cotton-picking hands off their health care!
Politico Reader comments on Harry Reid's bill ready to roll out of the Senate:
"The ever changing bill. We were promised a bill that would cover ALL Americans, reduce cost, and improve coverage. This bill does NONE of that. It DOES NOT cover all Americans, It RAISES the cost ,if we choose to believe THEIR numbers, and we know how accurate they have been in the past. Lastly, the coverage is worse. They are taking $400 billion out of Medicare but ; they ask us to believe it won't affect the coverage.."
Another Politico reader comments:
"Obama.... The constant lying. The staggering arrogance. The dangerous narcissism. The astounding incompetence. The Obama Buffoon wants to put as much of the private economy under government control as possible to create his nanny state utopia where he is the boy king. Let's continue to stand strong against Obama in every way and get Congress out of the hands of the equally incompetent Pelosi and Reid in 2010. Obama is a smug, smirking con man. Nothing more."
A Politico reader nails it:
"They ought to vote this turkey down and Obama along with it for non-support for "Change we can believe in". Once young voters get screwed with mandates, seniors get screwed with funding cuts, the middle gets screwed with rising costs, who benefits ? The monopolistic insurance cartel and Senator whore's $$$, that's who."
The government has yet to get anything 'right'
"Consider the following........ In 1994 the Congressional Budget Office studied the constitutionality of then President Clinton's Health Care Bill and concluded: "The government has never required people to buy any good or service as a condition of lawful residence of the United States. An individual mandate would have two features that, in combination, would it unique (strange, rare). First, it would impose a duty on individuals as members of a society. Second, it would require people to purchase a specific service that would be heavily regulated by the federal government". If this was deemed unconstitutional then, one would think this would also apply today. You can be quite certain a government run Health Care program and mandate will be brought into question. Dear Congress, Spare me another one of your loser proposals. The U.S. Post Service was established in 1775 You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broke. Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke. Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broke. War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor" and they only want more. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44 years to get it right and they are broke. Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get it right and it is broke. The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 32 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure."
