This house does not belong to Stenny Hoyer. It belongs to a hard working business CEO that was personally offended that his house may now be targeted. You should retract that article and maybe offer a formal appology to the owner for putting a possible target on his house for those who may be heated about the Health Care debates. Just my opinion! William L. Bentley Charlotte Hall Postmaster 20622-9998 Off 301-870-9574 Fax 301-290-1337 william.l.bentley@usps.gov<mailto:william.l.bentley@usps.gov> Dear Postmaster Bentley; The next time you decide to venture into offering your opinion about a political matter, don't use a government email address. If your pal is personally offended by the photo of his home being placed online, he could have: 1. built something smaller than the Taj Majal. 2. Asked Hoyer to move his sign which greets folks to a place in front of his own home. 3. Asked Hoyer to change his views on Health Care to represent the people of this district, who do not agree with him. Also, there is only one "n" in Steny. As the Postmaster of Charlotte Hall, I note that you sent an email rather than write a letter, so when they come along and decide to close your one horse Post Office due to a lack of business, you can believe you contributed to that outcome. We will issue a formal apology to the King of Siam who must be the rightful owner of the palace in the picture. You can apologize for delivering the mail late and at a $8 billion deficit. Thank you for your opinion. Ken Rossignol ST. MARY'S TODAY My family is voting Democratic
To all the nay-sayers,
A Great Legislator
Rhetoric should have meaning. Language should have value.
What then is meant by the phrase we are now hearing so often from the politico, "We have a moral obligation to pass this legislation"? Morals must be based on some standard. Among the most frequent standards used as a basis for moral values are scripture, tradition, reason and experience. Most of our government officials have totally rejected scripture. They have also rejected traditional values. When scrutinized, the legislation they are trying to pass does not hold to sound reason. And, when you compare the policies being put forth by those in power to the experience of history, you find that experience teaches that big government and total government control don’t produce anything good. So, other than just being persuasive words, what value, what basis, do these so-called "moral obligations" have? In recent decades, contrary to traditional values, we have been taught that when it comes to morals there are no absolutes. So why is the government that has propagated the educational system that teaches no absolutes telling us that we absolutely have a moral obligation to do what they are demanding? Added to this reasoning without rationalization coming from our government, is the "duty" on our part to pay the bill for all their dictated moral obligations! I guess my point is simple. Listening to our present leadership talk about moral obligations is about as logical as listening to Larry Flint and Hugh Hefner talk about chastity! Steve Casey Stonewall, LA
Does Steny Hoyer Represent Us? Yes!
Not Steny's House You and your reporters should of checked your facts before printing that picture on your front page of Steny Hoyer living like a millionaire because that isn't his house! I know because I live on his street and his house is actually down further and is a modest home not like the one in the picture. Just letting you know. Marlene Labanowski (Editor's Note: Marlene, as you can see from the photo, Steny put his sign in front of his neighbor's house. I'll bet your sign is in front of your home. Thanks for letting us know, we have already gotten a call from Steny's secretary and we will replace the photo of his neighbor's home with one of his. Perhaps Steny's sign needs an arrow! Therefore, you can be assured that this was not a case of not checking the facts, it was case of not believing your lying eyes. The following information is from the Maryland State Department of Assessment and Taxation, showing that Steny's home is not a "modest" one.)
I strongly support Majority Leader Hoyer I strongly support Majority Leader Hoyer. We are closer than we have ever been in my lifetime to achieving quality, affordable health care for all because of his outstanding leadership. It is very easy to sit on the sidelines and criticize, as evidenced by comments listed. So I would like to present a simple challenge to all who do: list 10 things you could do better to serve Maryland and our country in this important effort. Before responding, please indicate when you actually READ every single page of the the bill that was passed in the House. Yvette Lewis Bowie, MD
Hoyer follows Pelosi around like he's a puppy Hoyer hasn't represented southern Maryland for years. Many years. He has turned into an elitist power hungry politician who votes like he was elected in San Francisco. He follows Pelosi around like he's attached to her waist like a puppy. We are a family oriented community of hard working folks who need to throw him out. He doesn't care about how bad this bill is going to make our healthcare. He has a 100% Cadillac insurance policy for LIFE. Why would he care? I'd love for just ONE demoncrat to stand up and demand that Congress be forced to use the same healthcare they are providing for the rest of us. Would it be the atrocity recently passed. I seriously doubt it. No. Steny Hoyer, the man who voted for this healthcare bill as well as expanding legislation aimed at criminalizing thought needs to be retired to live out the rest of his life in his million dollar home. Bye Steny. You won't be missed. B. A. Butler Hoyer and his friends are helping themselves I do not and will not stand with or vote for Steny Hoyer in the next election or any other election. Steny Hoyer and his friends are not standing up to fight for my family. They are not doing anything to help this country. They are helping themselves. E. Snyder
I Support Steny Hoyer Like the vast majority of national polls show most Americans support the Democratic plan with the Public option. I personally support it because it will reform the Health Insurance Industry, insure 30 million Americans currently with NO health care and according to the bi-partisan Congressional Budget Office the 1.03 trillion dollar plan will pay for itself. As opposed to the Republican plan which will cost 61 billion dollars, never pay for itself, do nothing to reform the Health insurance industry and will increase the number of uninsured Americans to 50 million+. The only tax increases called for in the Democratic bill are for large corporations and citizens who are millionaires (none - zero, zilch, nada for the middle class). I don't feel sorry for CEOs or millionaires in the least when I see all the good people I know struggling to make ends meet. Many of them have filed bankruptcy and lost their homes because they got sick. Personally, I could care less if every millionaire in the country got mad and left over it. I say good riddance to anybody who waves a flag until tax day! I pay mine and (contrary to Limbaugh's numbers) my 33% is still more of my paycheck than the 3% his attorneys whittle his down to. The costs of health insurance is sky-rocketing and it's a relief to know that the Health Insurance Companies will start paying my claims and yours like they're supposed to AND their premiums will go down when they start fighting to stay in business because people will have Medicare Part "E" as an option, and government requirements to ensure consumers get a fair shake. That will force the monopolized insurance industry to lower it's rates and possibly even become competitive. Just like the unspoken "threats" of a windfall profits tax and the opening of the national reserves of oil brought gas prices down from 4.00 a gallon to 1.80 a gallon nationwide when it was obvious we were electing Obama without any oil companies going out of business the intervention of the government in the health insurance price gouging will work out better for all of us. You and I won't be paying for "Republican Health care" (people going to emergency rooms to be treated for things they should be seeing a doctor for, but can't afford to do so with no insurance and funerals for the ones who die without treatment) any more. I think it's waaay past time we do what every other country in the free world did 50 years ago. Dennis Register Lexington Park
Hoyer: Not again will I support him! Having supported Mr. Hoyer for as long as I have lived here and I am a Republican but…not again will I support him. Having read the bills he has supported, the Czars he has voted for not again. I have always voted for the person I thought would represent the people and not a follower the Mr. Hoyer has turned into. Norm Bleakley Town Creek, Maryland
Hoyer's Health Care Good for Maryland I am proud to say Steny Hoyer represents all Marylanders as well as the rest of the country. His unwavering support for health care reform with a strong public option is good for Maryland and the nation. Anyone who believes different has probably been listening to the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glen Beck,
