Here's some
commentary for your
slots feedback.
For the life of me,
I cannot understand
why Maryland refuses
to be smarter when
it comes to the slot
machine issue. The
truth is in
plain-view, the
public doesn't care
about horse racing,
so why does the
legislature feel the
need to hoodwink the
public into
supporting horse
racing in order to
get slots in
Maryland?
When the vast
majority of
Marylanders go to
our neighboring
states to play
slots, they do not
engage in betting on
the horses. Worst
yet, they don't even
glance at the
racetracks unless
forced to drive by
them.
Now, back to being
smarter and
different than our
neighbors. Our
fellow citizens in
these neighboring
states have already
fallen victim to the
horse racing scam,
but we don't need
to. I propose that
the state of
Maryland be the sole
operator of a
reasonable number of
slot parlors on
various state sites.
Why should the state
let private
enterprises reap the
profits from slots
in exchange for only
a meager cut when
they can claim the
whole jackpot? To
say that would doing
this would be wrong
is just as silly as
saying that we need
to have horse racing
in order to have
slots.
What also needs to
be done is make it
completely illegal
for anyone other
than the state to
operate a slot
machine. The Rod and
Reel and the rest of
them need to be
immediately put out
of the slot machine
business. Refer to
the duck rule. It it
walks like a duck
and quacks like a
duck, then it's
duck. Those are slot
machines in my
opinion, and trust
me, I've played a
lot of them in real
casinos.
Yesteryear is long
gone and so are many
good jobs, not to
mention pensions for
doing a job.
Wouldn't it be nice
to give Marylanders
a nice, secure state
job running these
slot operations
rather than feed
them to the race
track sharks
currently swimming
in Annapolis harbor?
Signed
Sick of driving to
Dover and WV!
