Families and Fans of Indian Head Braves Acted like Bunch of

Wild Indians; Kids Suffer from Adult's Behavior

I’m disappointed I haven’t seen any coverage on St. Mary’s today online or in the MD Independent on the brawl at Ruth B. Swann Park in Bryans Road on Saturday.  I was personally not there, but have heard from several eye witnesses about the fight between two cheerleaders from the Indian Head Braves that escalated into a brawl with women and children being punch by men.  The Indian Head Braves weren’t fighting the opposing team, they were fighting amongst themselves.  The incident supposedly started at one of the 1st games of the day (70 or 90 lb teams) and the remaining 4-6 games to be played at that field were cancelled due to the brawl.  Rumor is the families/people involved would not press charges; therefore, there were no arrests.  A person I spoke with yesterday stated he was at the game to watch his nephew, witnessed the brawl, and has since been told by his brother that they have turned in his nephew’s uniform and pads due to the event.  It’s a shame that children will pay the price, as families are removing them from playing sports due to full grown adults and parent’s inappropriate behavior.  Another person stated he was at the field because he was coaching the next game to be played.  He was outraged and embarrassed by the incident, and has filed a protest.  Was a police report written – absolutely.  Was the commissioners and referee league officially informed of the incident?  What actions have been taken?  It has been said that the brawl was not printed or posted to try to protect the image of the county.  I find that hard to believe, is that true?  I am interested in knowing what really happened, and if anyone will get the truth and print it, it will be St. Mary’s Today Online.
