The
Chevrolet Volt concept is a plug-in electric vehicle
that will run up to 40 miles without ever using a drop
of gasoline -- which according to government data, would
be enough to handle approximately two-thirds of daily
commutes for American drivers. The first vehicle in
GM’s “E-Flex” family, the Volt will be powered by
an electric motor, which draws its energy from on-board
batteries. The batteries, in turn, will be re-charged
by a small internal combustion engine that will run on
gas, diesel or ethanol. When not in use, the batteries
will be re-charged by simply plugging the Volt into an
electric outlet. GM officials have this car in DC
for the next week to whip up news over their newest
vehicle.

No Gay Stop in
Charles County
WALDORF --- The
Charles County Sheriff's Dept. reports that someone
spray painted the word "gay" on a stop sign and that
they are investigating the incident as a "hate crime".
The police were able to discern that the intent of the
paint-can toting criminal was to somehow stop gay stops,
stop gays from doing some unknown thing or to to
encourage gay behavior from motorists when stopping at
the sign; to otherwise stop having a gay old time. Two
such signs were spray painted on signs on Oak Ridge Road
and Oaks Road in Hughesville, making this the area's
designated "Stop Gays" zone. This news story will not
have a pink background like the one above so as to not
make light of this story.

Terror Truck Headed for Base?
PAX RIVER (July 28) -
A terror alert about a man with a tractor-trailer with
New York tags trying to hire a local man with an ID to
drive his truck onboard the Naval Air Station was passed
over to the St. Mary's Sheriff's Department for a
lookout but the Navy never released any more information
about the incident ore responded to requests for
information. There was a long delay between the
report to the Navy and the warning to the community and
then the Navy lapsed into a coma for the rest of the
week, not responding to requests for more information.
Request from our readers were passed along to police who
were unable to find out from the Navy if the incident
was bogus or real.
The Navy sent out an email from NAWC Anti-Terrorism
Officer Vimaris Guadalupe. Her phone numbers are:
301-757-4719 and cell: 240-577-1862, now everyone has her
number and can call her for confirmation of any emails
received in the future about terrorism at Pax River.
Call Guadalupe if you want to be in the loop.

(Clements July 28) Maryland State Trooper Adams stands

The Maryland State Police experience a number of wrecked
and totaled units during the course of a year pursuing
criminals and fleeing drivers, making trips to body
shops and medical costs for troopers part of police
work. In the Dukes of Hazard life in Southern
Maryland, police chases are an almost daily occurrence
with some local rednecks who poach deer by spotlighting
rev up their engine performance by adding nitro to their

Nab Pirate Red-Handed Ending Spree of Boat Burglaries
LA PLATA
(July 28) - According
to NRP Sgt. Ken Turner, on Wednesday, July 25, at 1:15
a.m., the Maryland Natural Resources Police Tactical
Response Team arrested Jeremy Michael Plemons, 26, of
Marbury for breaking into a boat at the Smallwood State
Park marina.
From December 2006 through July 24 of this year,
Smallwood State Park has had over 25 incidents involving
burglary, theft and malicious destruction of property.
From those incidents, over $8,000 worth of equipment and
cash had been stolen from the park and private
individuals who stored vessels at the park’s marina. The
NRP Tactical Response Team set up surveillance on the
area and apprehended Plemons as he exited a vessel at
the marina with a CD receiver in hand. Later on that
afternoon, the NRP Criminal Investigation Unit executed
a search and seizure warrant on Plemons residence and
recovered more items as evidence. Plemons is being held
on $5,000 bond at the Charles County Detention Center.
At this time, he has been charged with theft less than
$500, burglary in the second degree, possession of
burglary tools, trespassing and malicious destruction of
property. NRP continues their investigation and
additional charges are pending. NRP was assisted
by the Maryland State Police and the Charles County
Sheriff’s Office.

Pax River from space, as seen in this photo taken by
astronauts at the international space station.
They like to use the Naval Air Station as a training aid
for focusing their cameras due to the contrast of the
waters of the Chesapeake Bay, top and right, the
Patuxent River, to the left and the land. The
cross of the landing runways also helps them understand
just what in tarnation that they are viewing. A view of
Edwards Air Force Base which shows no encroachment on
their runways ought to make it clear that letting
developers such as Guy Curley with his project close to
the base, will put Pax River at a disadvantage with
China Lake at Edwards. Both bases are in
competition for testing missions conducted by the armed
services. Photo by NASA. The photo at
right shows a slightly different view but more of the
development taking place in Lexington Park. The
St. Mary's government recently turned down the Glazed
Pines project of Curley's but fear the developer will

Foul Mouth Band Gets Promoter Shut Down by Liquor Board

The former Southridge
restaurant in Ridge, now Boatman's South, featuring a
Mom & Pops pizza place and still hosting a down-county
bar, had planned to have the band Molly Hatchet on it's
ball field on July 28th. But a foul-mouthed band
playing at the place last month stirred the neighbors to
action and all of officialdom caught hell from the
people of Ridge, spurring them to uncommonly quick
action to shut down the concert before the first guitar
string was plucked. The promoter has given up and moved
the event to Seaside View. He also promises that future
bands at Boatman's will be quieter and not use foul
language.

STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE
ELKTON HOMICIDE
(North East, MD) —
Maryland State Police are investigating the murder of a
Cecil County man at the hands of his son, following a
motor vehicle crash in Elkton. The victim is identified
as Eugene Francis Pritchard, 69, of the 100-block of Old
Bay View Road in North East.
Pritchard was transported to Elkton Union Hospital where
he was pronounced dead. Shortly after 12:00 a.m.,
Troopers from the North East barrack received a 9-1-1
call reporting a single vehicle crash in the 800 block
of Nottingham Road, Elkton, Maryland. Trooper First
Class John Hickey arrived and discovered that that a van
had crashed into a tree in the front yard of a house.
Witnesses told the trooper that they had seen an apparent altercation
inside the van after the crash and described the
appearance of a man seen fleeing the crash scene.
As TFC Hickey was checking the victim’s welfare, he
observed an individual matching the description
attempting to flee the area on foot. TFC Hickey was able
to track down the suspect and bring him into custody.
The suspect, Eugene Francis Pritchard Jr., 30, of the
unit block of Oak Drive, Elkton, Maryland was
transported to the North East Barrack for processing. He
will be taken before a District Court Commissioner later
today where he will be arraigned on homicide charges. |

White Guy With Ski Mask and Gun
Robbed St. John's Pharmacy
Bandit could be same one hitting
other drugstores in region
HOLLYWOOD -(July 11)
--- Just about 5:30 pm today, a man reportedly
went inside the front door of St. John's Pharmacy with a
ski mask and a gun, robbed the store of merchandise and
money and then fled. The first arriving police
officers surrounded the place and confirmed that the
robber had left. A K-9 dog was responding. A bystander
saw him go in and called 911. The man may have
fled in a tan or beige car.
Police say that the robber is about 5'10" tall, is very skinny, has brown
hair, was wearing blue jeans and a zip up jacket.
He had a blue and red bandana. Call 911 if you
have any tips on the identity of this dangerous gunman.
Robberies of drug stores often are for drugs such as
Oxycotin. Drug addicts also go to local drug stores to
get their prescriptions of methadone filled.
The need for cash to buy illegal drugs fuels most armed
robberies and the lookout description of the robber
being very thin is also an indication that the robber
could be a drug addict seeking money for drugs as
addicts often are very thin due to poor diets.

transport by the Lexington Park Vol. Rescue Squad.
Fire personnel from the Second District Vol. Fire
Department also responded but the barn continues to be
sturdy despite this latest attempt to knock it down.
Police say that the kid passed in a no passing zone when
he lost control and ran into the barn. His parents
may want to believe that the cops just made it all up
and these are doctored photos. But he's got a bad
driving record and at this rate won't have a drivers
license too long. Just hope he doesn't kill someone
before he has his permit snatched.
