Hoyer's Baloney

U. S. Rep. Steny Hoyer in Capitol office.  ST. MARY'S TODAY photo

In a surprise move U. S. House of Representatives Majority Leader St
eny Hoyer (D. Md. 5th) says he would favor a restoration of the "Fairness Doctrine" which requires broadcasters to run an even amount of drivel on tv and the radio even if no one is listening.  Since the liberal talk shows and networks go broke due to lack of listeners, he wants the broadcasters to pick up the tab for left wing loonies to bloviate.  Remember, when the liberals want you to listen to their drivel, you must stop what you are doing and tune them in and listen....there will be a test. Luxury Suite for Tax-hiking Board

St. Mary's Commissioners break in new meeting hall, a $2.5 million frill it never needed!

LEONARDTOWN  --- The St. Mary's County Commissioners held fort today in their new building which houses a new public meeting chambers, with hushed tones, indirect lighting, plush new chairs for the board as they pontificate from elevated seating, worthy of the United States Supreme Court.  Two giant tv screens grind down from the ceiling to assist with visual presentations as staff arrive on bended knee to perform for the tv cameras.  One of the best parts of the meeting room is almost comedic as a huge one way mirror keeps watch over the board of commissioners, just as the one way glass in department stores keeps an eagle eye for shoplifters. With the commissioners sitting as the board of public pickpockets, just this year approving a $14.5 million hike in real estate taxes just as property values have dropped nearly in half, the one-way mirror is very appropriate for keeping an eye on these pickpockets, who have ripped the wallets of the taxpayers out and taken every last cent, while spending wildly on all manner of glitter and gold.  Only Republican Larry Jarboe voted no to the tax hikes while phony Republican Kenny Dement only lamented he could not spend even more money.   Taxing Tommy Mattingly reported to the Board on Tuesday that he was present this past Friday night at the River Concert Series, "which we sponsored", he said. Mattingly still hasn't figured out that the Commissioners didn't use their own money, they dipped into the pockets of the taxpayers and gave St. Mary's College $10,000.   Meanwhile the College operates four overseas campus locations and even  brings Italian kids over here for the summer.

UPDATE:  This is the train we could have if Gov. Martin O'Malley would keep campaign promises. Congressman Steny Hoyer told ST. MARY'S TODAY he will be contacting Maryland Transportation Secretary John Porcari to urge immediate commuter rail service to his district which encompasses Southern Maryland.  Hoyer will be bringing together those interested in solving this problem in a meeting in the next few weeks.

Helping O'Malley Keep Campaign Promises to Bring Commuter Rail to So. Md.

Can the bozos running Maryland's MARC commuter train system come up with more excuses on why they can't run commuter trains on existing CSX tracks, just like in the rest of Maryland where MARC trains also operate on CSX tracks.  Everyone can join in to help the idea-deprived mental midgets at Maryland Transit Administration and show them how to find rail equipment to put on the tracks.  With Governor Martin O'Malley's big tax hike last year he ought to have a few bucks sitting around.
Tip for MARC:
here is where to lease up to 40 passenger cars NOW

The Bear Report:

Some residents of the north end of St. Mary's County report seeing a black bear wandering around.  The last time a bear was spotted in the county was prior to 1990 and a state trooper was so scared of the bear that he shot it before DNR rangers could arrive to use a tranquilizer gun.  The bear was stuffed and put on display in the Civil War Museum at Point Lookout State Park.

Cops Charge Two St. Mary's Men With Dealing Drugs

Fritz gains raises for crowd of courthouse lawyers while taxes go up....but Dement fouled out!

LEONARDTOWN UPDATE --St. Mary's Commissioner Kenny Dement led the charge to give raises to the assistant states attorneys who work for St. Mary's States Attorney Richard Fritz.  In a secret series of meetings, closed to the public, without any prior announcement, Commissioners Tommy Mattingly and Jackie Russell gave their consent to the move by Dement to fund raises for the prosecutors.  The Fritz lawyers all make around $100,000 per year and got their cost of living increases but they also got reclassifications which no other county employees were able to obtain from the board, which was pointed out by Commissioner Raley.  Fritz ducked a public meeting at which he could have made a pitch for his request. Commissioners Dan Raley and Larry Jarboe voted against the increases, which Raley said was unfair to all other county employees and Fritz wrote a nasty letter dumping on Raley and Jarboe to the Emptyprize.  Fritz, who was hiding behind the closed meeting doors, now says he wants a public meeting and Jarboe says bring it on, we'll have a public forum and let everyone have a say....Will Kenny Dement, who royally screwed up this deal by reading the wrong motion, which now does NOT fund the raises for Fritz's assistants, be able to continue to get tickets fixed for his pals like he used to do?  Only The Shadow knows for sure!
Dave Weiskopf is the new assistant county attorney, a long time criminal attorney, Dave is set to advise the planning commissioners and board of appeals.

One more leader of the PRA kicks the bucket as the old goats take a perfectly good organization with them to the grave instead of passing St. Mary's County's only long-term civic association on to the next generation....the developers will rejoice at this latest passing.  Jannson and others took St. Mary's County to court to force the county to abide by the county's own zoning ordinance as most every member of the local bar association broke the law and illegally subdivided land.  The court ruled that nearly 5,000 lots were illegally subdivided...even Judges Raley and Slade illegally subdivided lots by deed...only Senator Roy Dyson stood up to the local lawyers and commissioners in 1998 and nixed an effort to make the crooked land deals legal....but with the PRA members buying the farm in a steady trickle of old age ailments it won't be long before there is no one to reign in the greedy developers who would pave over their own grandmothers for a fast buck. Good Bye PRA, it won't be long before the last one is pushing up daisies.

Revenge Motive for Arson of Ford

WALDORF — Deputy State Fire Marshals have charged a Waldorf woman with 2nd degree arson and malicious destruction of property. The charges stem from an intentionally set fire which destroyed a 2002 Ford Escort owned by Sheila Dandy. The June 19, 2008 fire occurred in the 3800 block of Kelly Green Place and caused an estimated $3,000.00 damage to the car.

Investigators determined Natasha Theresa Thompson; 21 years old from the 5000 block of Vane Court set fire to the car for revenge. Ms. Thompson and Ms. Dandy were acquaintances and were involved in an argument earlier in the evening.

Thompson was arrested at her home this afternoon without incident by Deputy State Fire Marshals and deputies with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.

She currently is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending her initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
