Letter to the Editor

Kelli Tells Her Side

To the Editor:

I admit I am not surprised at Trent and Tracy' Chapin's statements as of of late.  First of  all Tracy basis her story on what Trent has told her.  She has been with Trent for a short while.   Here are some facts to consider, I promise you I will not just WAG my tongue. Trent Chapin attended Thanksgiving dinner with me at my brothers home in Anchorage, AK. one week after I met him.  I know Trent from a halfway house in Anchorage. My parents, two brothers and their families along with my son attended this family dinner.

Another fact to chew on is when I met Trent Chapin I had just been transferred from Fairbanks, AK.  I had not gotten a job in Anchorage as of that time.  According to the story that is being circulated I worked with Ms English at City Mortgage.  When I met Trent Chapin I did not work at City Mortgage yet.  So as you can seen based on the information I have just provided, which can be verified, Trent Chapin is not being truthful.

My son Josh O'Brien, is the son of Mr. O'Brien, whom I was married to. Mr. O'Brien is caring father, a good father, and yes he paid his child support as good fathers do.  Yes  I was married to a man with the last name of Fox for a short time, this marriage was short lived when both parties realized we had made a mistake.  My son was 4 years old when Imet and married Mr. Fox.

I am not the only woman in Trent's life he has threatened to kill if I did not keep my mouth shut.  Trent threatened his mother in 1990 after he forced her into bankruptcy, causing her to loose everything she had.  Becky told Trent and his then wife Kelly Hegg that she would sue them for what she had lost because of them, Trent threatened her stating that he would kill her if she came after them.

I am no longer intimidated by Trent Chapin, I now see him for what he truly is.  I hope and pray him and his wife Tracy live happily ever after.

To the Editor:

Please print this letter, perhaps it will shed some light for Traci Chapin and her confusion regarding the man she is married to (Mr. Chapin's 6th or 7th wife, we have lost count).

Helgoe met Chapin in Anchorage, Alaska.  Chapin was being housed at a halfway house in Anchorage, a place where people who are being released from prison can have the opportunity to work their way back into society if they follow the rules and prove to be worthy of that privilege. Chapin was employed with Cal Worthington Ford there in Anchorage as a car salesman.  Chapin talked about Helgoe a lot, and never called her by any other name than Kelli.

Chapin, quite the ladies man with his blue eyes and snake like charm, swept Helgoe off her feet asking her to marry him, showering her with gifts and an engagement ring hehad made specially for her, or so she thought!  Friends and family could see he was no good, but Helgoe couldn't see him for what he really was.

Chapin swore his faithfulness to Helgoe.  The very next day Chapin was sent back to prison.

There he would sit for another year.  It turns out Chapin had already swore faithfulness to another woman who had been caught by his charm.  This lady had visited him in prison before  he was released to the halfway house and continued to make plans for their future together once he was out on parole.  This lady's name is Renae.  Renae, being angered  and outraged by Chapin and his unfaithfulness to her, contacted the appropriate authorities and turned Chapin in for falsifying earnings statement reports he had submitted to the halfway house.   This information can be verified through the State of Alaska Department of Corrections.

I saw the letters that Trent Chapin sent addressed to Kelli Helgoe at her home in Anchorage, Alaska, every day for a year after he went back to prison.  If Chapin can not tell the truth about what happened almost 18 years ago, what makes you think he is telling you the truth today.

Do some research.  I know Chapin from the half way house in Anchorage.  The funny thing is I saw all the love letters he had written to "Renae" while he was in prison, she brought them back to him the day she turned him in for falsifying his earnings statements.  They were full of how much he loved her and how she was the only one for him, how he was going to make her his wife....there would never be another, he would love her forever.....

Signed,
Some one who knows the truth.
