America opened it’s doors to the Cubans in the 1960’s and no where did anyone see simple instructions on how to use a phone, open a door, purchase food or other goods conducted in Spanish.   Why?  The Cubans who came to America embraced this country and became Americans.  They retained a pride in their heritage, which mirrored the Irish, the Polish and the Italians and every other ethnic group which realized that their country’s of birth had nothing in comparison with the United States and while carrying on traditions, quickly learned English and learned how to work, learn and be a part of America.

In the 1970’s, hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese came to America and no one had to endure a bunch of silly signs posted all over the land with everything in their native language.  They learned with gusto and quickly became part of our American life, excelling in business, education, government service and the trades.

We have had new Americans from the south of our border come here for decades and learn English, become a vibrant part of our culture and our society and we never had to post signs in two languages. 

What is there about today's illegal immigrants who waltz into this nation and are suddenly catered to by the ‘feel-good’ bozos of the left wing of the political spectrum?   It’s simple, to a certain segment of our society the illegal aliens, who don’t learn English, don’t pay taxes, don’t stand in line to get legal admission, don’t have insurance and don’t give a hoot are clearly no prize winners in their native lands any more than they are here.  The government in Mexico is glad to rid itself of lazy bums and criminals and makes it easy for them to go north.  Castro emptied his prisons for the Mariel Boatlift and Mexico is doing the same thing, resulting in an explosion of crime from violent Mexican gangs all over America.

Big business loves those who will work for slave wages and melt away when they aren't needed.

For the Maryland General Assembly to fail to crack down on illegal immigrants is a disgrace, and a disservice to the people of Maryland.

Maryland has always opened it’s hearts and doors to immigrants but there is nothing wrong with telling those who crossed our borders illegally to go back and get in line.  

And all immigrants can damn well learn English. 
Give us your tired, your weary, your downtrodden, as this is the land of hope and opportunity, but those who come here must do so legally, learn English and just like all of the others, the Danish, the Swiss, the Nigerians, the Chinese, learn English.  There may be more than a few tongue-twisting uses of various English words, but this has been a land where communication is part of what unites us.  To have a people who are so arrogant to insist in being able to speak only their orgin-language shows that they really have no intention of becoming American’s, they are just here for the money.

America has every right to reject, the lazy, the greedy and self-serving and that does not refer to the country club Republicans or the leftwing Democrats, although it sounds like it does.  Those who cannot learn English need not apply for citizenship.  This is an easy language, just about any use of the language works.  Just ask those affected folks on St. George’s Island about the shellfish known as “arsters”.

There is slang, there is ebonics, there are high society, new age, old age and pig latin.  A brand new language has sprung up for instant messaging but it’s all English of some type.

Americans have every right to reserve constitutional rights for American citizens.

 We do not owe free medical care, social security and 40 acres and a mule for every illegal immigrant.

Hispanics aren't dumb, they are simply like all of the rest of us.  Some are brilliant, some are lazy as we are all the same.  But this is America and those who have been paying for everything do not have to pay the freight for the rest of the world, and American's damn well don't have to learn Spanish or put up with dial "1" for English and dial "2" for Spanish.  There ought to be one more choice, dial "3" to tell them to go to hell.
