MEDLEY'S NECK --- Ace Reporter Sean Rice reports from the scene of a police shooting that at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night a suspected drunk driver on a Harley refused to stop for SDFC Mark Porter on Rt. 244 and a slow-speed chase ensued, until the man stopped just into Breton Beach Road.
The officer attempted to explain that sobriety tests would be administered but the belligerent rider pulled out a knife and threatened the deputy, police say. A struggle ensued in which the deputy attempted to stop the man with a Taser device. A passer-by witnessed the struggled and stopped to assist the officer.
St. Mary's Sheriff Tim Cameron told ST. MARY'S TODAY that the suspect then turned the knife and attempted to murder the citizen also.
A release issued by the sheriff's office states: "During the course of the confrontation, the Deputy fired one round from his agency issued weapon which temporarily stopped the suspect. The suspect attempted to flee on foot at which time additional Officers were able to place him in custody and immediately administer medical treatment."
ST. MARY'S TODAY has learned the man was struck in the middle/upper torso, and he was last listed in critical condition. At the scene Saturday, investigators would not release the man's identity because next of
kin hasn't been notified. Neither Dep. Porter nor the citizen was injured.
The suspect was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital and then taken by                           DEP. PORTER    Maryland State Police helicopter to the Washington Hospital Center.
Suspects running from police are a common place occurrence in St. Mary's where numerous wild drivers fly through traffic, running red lights, passing on shoulders, and generally drive like lunatics.
....stay tuned and remember its Saturday night in St. Mary's, the land of the flask, the fiddle and the dark roasted possum.

Sex Sting Nets Two Arrests

Fatal Wreck

SOLOMON'S ISLAND --- Maryland State Police Prince Frederick Barracks Commander Lt. Homer Rich reports that
on Friday, March 23, 2007, at approximately 12:55 PM, Carolynn P. Lundmark (42 of Solomons, MD) was traveling
north on Solomons Island Road (S),  Solomons, Calvert County, Maryland.  Ms. Lundmark was operating her 2004
GMC Yukon SUV and was traveling alone.  For unknown reasons, her truck drifted from side to side, and then
traveled to the right, off of the roadway near Newtown Road.   It then struck a concrete curb, a nearby light pole,
and came to rest in a large drainage ditch.  Police and EMS personnel arrived promptly at the scene and exhausted
every possible effort to save Ms. Lundmark.  These were unsuccessful.  Several witnesses reported that Ms. Lundmark
exhibited little control of her SUV seconds before the crash and may have been slumped over the steering wheel
immediately before the crash.   Excessive speed and alcohol are not factors in this tragic crash.   The impact was
low speed with relatively little damage to the vehicle.  This investigation is ongoing.

One Dead in Triple Stabbing

Drug party turns deadly

Charles County Sheriff's officers report that on Friday, March 16 at 10:35 p.m., Officers responded to a
residence in the 13400 block of Budds Creek Road in Charlotte Hall for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers discovered three victims of the stabbing: Richard Blane Barlow, Jr., 37, of Charlotte Hall, a 25-year-old Charlotte Hall man and a 31-year-old La Plata man. Barlow was pronounced dead at the scene and the other victims were transported to Prince George's County Hospital Center. The suspect, who fled on foot prior to the officers'
arrival, was identified as Ronald Eugene Cannady, 22, of Oxon Hill. Officers located him nearby a short time later and arrested him.
The investigation revealed the suspect and victims were attending a gathering at the house and became
involved in an altercation, during which Cannady stabbed the three victims. Cannady is an acquaintance of one
of the victims, the La Plata man, who brought Cannady to the gathering. At least some of the participants in
the fight were under the influence of marijuana and PCP. The cause of the altercation is being investigated.
The surviving victims are in stable condition. Cannady is charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder and is being held at the Charles County Detention Center without bond. Detectives T. Miner and
K. Keelan are investigating.

Friday Night Mayhem....Police were called to a dance at the Hollywood VFD for a series of fights with 4 arrests made, two prisoners were then further charged with destruction of the interior of the police cars in which they were installed...alcohol really does turn these mental midgets into rocket scientists!  A fight outside the Fusion Bar in San Souci brought police to tame the wild men of California after a romp at the area's newest bar featuring bikini clad exotic dancers, that some report are dancing nude. A police investigation revealed that not all was revealed at the time of  a visit by a cop.

All Saved in Sailboat Mishap

SOLOMON'S ISLAND (March 15,2007) -- Ace reporter Sean Rice reports from the scene of a where two
sailboats capsized due to high winds in Solomon's harbor near the Tiki Bar that all persons were rescued
and that rescue personnel were attempting to "lasso" one of the boats, meaning they were trying to get a
line on it.
Calvert Sheriff Mike Evans reports that rescue operations were concluded with all occupants of the
vessels safe and that DNR Natural Resources Police would be investigating the incident.

Man Parks His Van on Thomas Johnson Bridge, Police Find a Note Saying he Jumped

Gov. Thomas Johnson bridge crosses the Patuxent River at Solomon's Island.  This view under the bridge is
about a third of the way across the river which at this point is 120' deep and has a swift current.  Jumpers are sometimes not found for weeks until body gases cause the corpse to float but the water's depth usually
prevents dragging operations from succeeding. ST. MARY'S TODAY photos.

Politically Correct Crowd on the Assault

Freedom of the Press Under Attack . . .

 <<<
Cartoons of the ruthless rednecks that set fire to more than 20 brand new homes, mostly owned by black families, in an
upper-middle class subdivision in Charles County, the Hunter's Brooke arson demonstrate that toons of white criminals
can be published without complaint from
the politically correct - but no one shall dare draw a cartoon of black armed robbers.  See the link to Toonville for many other cartoons.  The offending cartoon is republished this week, along with a selection of past toons, to help tune up the discussion, now available on newsstands.....

Associated Press article

   Washington Post story
(Note: the Post reporter said that no comment was given.  That is not true. She apparently didn't like the comment. The comment was as follows: "You are not the editor of St. Mary's Today, if someone has a problem with our editorial cartoon that person can call or write us a letter to the editor".  Then the call was ended. In the interest of full disclosure, Janice Walthour's sister, Elfreda Mathis, was a candidate in last year's election and sought but did not win the endorsement of this newspaper. Mathis did not win her bid to oust Commissioner Kenny Dement. In addition, why would Walthour allow her sister to purchase campaign ads in a newspaper she told the Post is racist? Mathis advertised heavily in ST. MARY'S TODAY during the campaign.)
