WALDORF (Oct. 4, 2007)  ---  Charles County Sheriff's officers report that on Oct. 3 at 7:48 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 3300 block of Ryon Court in Waldorf for the report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Joseph Gilford Hickman, 71, of Waldorf on the front porch of his residence with a gunshot wound to his chest.

 He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigation revealed two male suspects were on foot and fired an unknown number of rounds from a gun and fled the scene.

One shot struck Hickman in the chest but it is unknown whether he was the intended target. Officers and a K9 Unit searched the area but the suspects were not located.
