Cops Say South Carolina Burglar

Used Truck to Bash in Windows of Liquor Stores

LA PLATA ---  It was a dark, cold and snowy night and a traveler from down south wanted to have a nightcap but all the liquor stores closed up for the snow storm.  It must have been a helluva thirst that  Carolina boy built up to make him use his pickup truck for bashing in the doors of three liquor stores, at least that's what Charles Sheriff's spokesman Diane Richardson alleges took place during the Great March Snowstorm of 2009.

On March 2 at 12:32 a.m., Richardson says Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to an intrusion alarm at White Plains Liquors located at 4425 Crain Highway in White Plains. Investigation revealed the suspect attempted to gain entry into the business by throwing an object at the glass doors; he was unsuccessful and left. The suspect then drove to Lady’s Liquors located at 6474 Crain Highway in La Plata. He backed his Chevrolet pick-up truck through the front door of the business, exited his vehicle and stole liquor and cigarettes.

The suspect left that store and drove to Green’s Liquors located at 9201 Crain Highway in Bel Alton where he drove his truck through the front door and stole liquor. Officers reviewed the surveillance cameras at the businesses and obtained a description of the suspect’s truck.

As officers canvassed the area, they spotted the truck at the Thunderbird Motel in Glasva. Officers located the suspect inside a room and recovered the stolen merchandise. The suspect, Jeffrey Eric Neil, 33, of South Carolina, was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary, three counts of destruction of property, theft and possession of drugs. Officers S. Fulton and S. Duley made the arrest.

She May Be A Virgin, But Not Anymore as Charges Pending After Overturning on Rt. 4

PRINCE FREDERICK (Feb. 28, 2009) Calvert Sheriff Mike Evans reports that Cpl. Richard Wilson responded to a motor vehicle crash on Adelina Road between Sandy Point Road and Sixes Road in Prince Frederick on February 27 at 1:00 a.m. He observed a 2004 Jeep Cherokee overturned in the middle of the roadway.

The vehicle had been heading southbound on Adelina Road when it swerved into the northbound lane and then back into the southbound lane, striking a guardrail and overturning, coming to rest in both lanes. The driver of the vehicle had fled the scene.

Cpl. Wilson located the driver, later identified as Josephine Hall Virgin, 21 of Prince Frederick, at her home after a friend of Virgin’s had driven her there after the crash. Virgin refused medical treatment. Inside her vehicle, police located suspected marijuana.

Virgin has now gained a drug arrest record which may sully an otherwise virgin record and cause her troubles for years in seeking employment during an already difficult time to find a job. Those with drug arrests can also lose their security clearances and therefore lose their jobs.  They don't call it dope for nothing.

Virgin was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and possession of marijuana and use of drug paraphernalia, 2 cigar tubes used to store marijuana.
