BALTIMORE MAN EXILED TO OVER NINE YEARS
FOR AN
ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY AND FIREARMS
CHARGES
Caught in Undercover Investigation
Baltimore, Maryland
- Federal prosecutors report that U.S.
District Judge William D. Quarles, Jr.
sentenced Jerrod Fenwick, age 27, of
Baltimore, on Friday to 117 months in
prison, followed by five years of
supervised release for conspiracy to
interfere with interstate commerce by
robbery, possession of a firearm by a
felon and possession of a firearm in
furtherance of a crime of violence,
announced United States Attorney for the
District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein.
According to the
guilty plea, during the course of a drug
investigation of Christopher Davis, age
25, of Baltimore, Davis expressed
interest on several occasions, to a
cooperating witness working with law
enforcement, in robbing a drug dealer.
Specifically, Davis asked whether the
witness knew anyone who could be robbed
for quick money. On DEA’s instruction,
the witness told Davis that the Witness
did know a drug dealer who might be a
possible robbery target.
Beginning on
September 20, 2007, DEA directed the
witness to tell Davis that his “man”
(the fictional drug dealer) was back in
the area During a series of phone calls,
Davis asked to meet with the witness
early the next day in order to rob the
drug dealer. At one point, Davis made
calls to other associates, confirming
that they would be willing to
participate and informed the witness
that he would meet the witness the next
day.
During the morning
of September 21, 2007, Davis arrived at
the arranged meeting place with two
other men, later identified as Fenwick
and Donnell Mann. Law enforcement agents
and police officers arrested Davis,
Fenwick and Mann. Officers recovered
from their vehicle a loaded High Point
model JHP .45 caliber handgun and a
loaded Ruger 9mm P-89 handgun.
Fenwick knowingly
became part of the conspiracy to rob the
drug dealer described to Davis by the
witness, knew that the plan was to rob a
drug dealer, and knew that firearms were
to be used as part of that crime.
Donnell Mann, age
26, of Baltimore pleaded guilty to
conspiracy and firearms charges and is
scheduled to be sentenced on March 20,
2008. Charges against Davis are pending.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein
thanked Baltimore City State’s Attorney
Patricia C. Jessamy, the Baltimore City
Police Department and Drug Enforcement
Administration for their assistance in
the investigation and prosecution. Mr.
Rosenstein commended Assistant U.S.
Attorneys Steven H. Levin and Michael
Hanlon, who are prosecuting the case.
