The Devil made the heathens do it!

Fuel oil stolen from tank at church in Nanjemoy...

Silent Witness!

This Madonna stands in front of St. Ignatius Church on Port Tobacco Road where thieves went behind the church and siphoned out the tank of oil, making the heat go off in the church.  The parishioners of this church and virtually all others in the area give their money to pay for oil bills for those who cannot afford to keep heat in their homes.  ST. FUEL OIL STOLEN:

NANJEMOY (Feb. 23, 2010) ----  Charles County Sheriff's officers report that on February 21 at 9:38 a.m., officers responded to St. Ignatius Church at 6455 Port Tobacco Road in Nanjemoy for the report of a theft. Investigation revealed the fuel tank for the heating system was filled in late January.

On Sunday, February 21, when it was time for Mass, the Priest and parishioners found there was no heat, say police.

A check revealed the tank was empty after the oil was apparently siphoned.

The sheriff’s office is reminding residents to be on the look out for unusual activity near oil tanks - especially during non-business hours - and to report suspicious activity immediately. Officer J. Murphy is investigating.
