HUNTINGTOWN
--- At
approximately 9:19 p.m. Jan. 7, the Calvert
County
Control
Center
received a
call
from an
unknown male
advising
that some
one had
killed his
neighbor’s
brother.
Calvert
County
Sheriff
Deputies and
Troopers
from the
Maryland
State Police
- Prince
Frederick
Barrack were
dispatched
to 4650
Solomon's
Island Rd.,
Huntingtown for
the reported
homicide.
When
officers
responded to
the scene
they found
Clyde Chew
standing on
the front
porch of the
residence.
Members
of the
Calvert
Investigative
Team
responded to
the
residence
and assumed
the
investigation.
Investigators
found
Clifton
Jacks, a 49
year-old
black male
from
Huntingtown,
deceased
inside the
residence.
Clifton
Jacks
suffered
numerous
strikes to
the head and
one strike to
the upper
back with an
8 lb. split
maul (this
tool has an
axe like
face on one
side and a
sledge
hammer type
on the other
side).
Through
investigation
Clyde O'Neil
Chew, 71
year-old
black male
from
Huntingtown,
was
determined
to be the
suspect.
Chew was
transported
to the
Calvert
County
Detention
center to
await a bond
review. He
was charged
with 1st
and 2nd
Degree
Murder and 1st
Degree
assault.
