Vehicle Stolen by St. Mary's College Student From Construction Worker at College;

Vehicle Recovered at Budds Creek While Suspect Fought Cops Who Arrested Him

ST. MARY'S CITY (Sept. 4) --- NEWS FLASH!!!! Stolen SUV found at Budd's Creek Motocross Track .... and minutes later the cops found the alleged perpetrator.... All's well that ends well, a vehicle stolen from a construction site at St. Mary's College about noon was quickly recovered along with the alleged thief. The vehicle was spotted on Rt. 234 and police closed in, finding at the Budd's Creek race track at about 1:12 pm. The thief was described as a fat guy about 5'8" tall weighing in about about 280 lbs., which may explain why didn't run from the cops.
Sgt. Andrew Cusick reports that the vehicle, a 2005 GMC Denali was equipped with On-Star. Once activated at the request of the victim, Deputy Worrey received information that the vehicle was in the area of Budds Creek Raceway. Officers responded and located the vehicle and found Howard Marshall Hicks ( Age 18 of Poquoson, VA), a student at St. Mary’s College in possession of the vehicle. Hicks struggled with officers after being ordered to exit the vehicle. Hicks was arrested and charged with: Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Resisting Arrest and Trespassing.
St. Mary's Sheriff Tim Cameron told ST. MARY'S TODAY that the stolen SUV had On-Star and the newly minted adult suspect, Howard Marshall Hicks, 18, allegedly ripped off the truck and took off northbound with the owner of the vehicle having reported the theft to police and to On-star, which tracked the truck to the track...Hicks is on his way to jail in the back of a Maryland State Police cruiser and the owner is on the way to check on his truck, which may have some undercarriage damage. The cops had everything going for them today, an overweight suspect that couldn't run from the donut squad, a stolen truck with On-Star...Hats Off to the Police for a job well done...Good Work for the Boys and Girls in Blue and Brown...
