Police say that on August 25
at 1:26 a.m., Charles County
Sheriff’s officers responded
to the 4100 block of
Lancaster Circle in Waldorf
for the report of a
suspicious person trying to
break into a house. When
officers arrived, they
located the suspect, Armando
Aguilar, 21, of no fixed
address, on the front porch.
Armando confronted the
officer, threatened him with
a garden tool, and fled. He
was arrested a short
distance away and charged
with first degree assault.

Fled Police at Burglary
WALDORF —
On August 25 at 1:19 a.m., a
Charles County Sheriff’s
officer was canvassing the
parking lot of Fred’s Sports
and Furniture in the 2800
block of Crain Highway in
Waldorf after recent reports
of attempted break-ins. As
the officer checked the rear
of the store, he noticed two
suspects - who wrapped
shirts around their heads -
attempting to climb the
rear, exterior wall. The
officer approached and the
suspects attempted to flee.
One of the suspects, a 16
year old male from Bowie,
was apprehended and charged
with attempted second degree
burglary. The second suspect
escaped and has not been
identified. Officer B.Virts
made the apprehension.
Scum
sucking bums charged with
stealing from the poor and
giving to themselves
BRYANS
ROAD — Scum sucking bums
ripped off a container
raising money for a
fundraiser, say police. On
August 23 at 4:32 p.m.,
Charles County Sheriff’s
officers responded to
Safeway in the 3100 block of
Marshall Hall Road in Bryans
Road for the report of a
theft. Investigation
revealed the suspect entered
the business, approached a
cashier, and stole a plastic
container that contained
money collected for a
fundraiser. The suspect ran
from the store and got into
a Dodge Durango. A
description of the vehicle
was broadcast and a
responding officer observed
the car on Strauss Avenue
near Woodland Road. As the
officer attempted to
initiate a traffic stop, the
four occupants of the car
jumped out and fled. Two of
the occupants, Brian David
Lyles, 19, and Angelo
Javanni Belcher, 18, both of
Indian Head, were
apprehended; the other two
suspects escaped. Lyles and
Belcher were charged with
theft. Officer K. Borders
made the apprehension.

Say Cops
BRYANS
ROAD — According to the
Sheriff’s spokesman, on
August 21 at 9:13 p.m., a
Charles County Sheriff’s
officer initiated a traffic
stop in the 2200 block of
Marshall Road in Bryans Road
after learning the driver of
a Dodge Caravan, Cecil
Jerome Adams, 51, of Bryans
Road, was operating the
vehicle with a suspended
driver’s license. Upon
approaching the car, the
officer observed cut
sections of copper pipe and
an industrial aluminum
exhaust fan inside the
vehicle. An investigation
revealed the items had just
been stolen from a
nearby business. Adams was
arrested and charged with
theft less than $500 and
driving with a suspended
driver’s license. Officer E.
Weaver investigated.

Trip to Slammer
WALDORF —
On August 21 at 11:45
a.m., Charles County
Sheriff’s officers responded
to the 2300 block of Kanegis
Court in Waldorf for the
report of an assault.
Investigation revealed the
victim and suspect were
arguing when the suspect,
Nychet Amanda Harrell, 22,
of Waldorf, threw a knife at
the victim, penetrating his
thigh. The victim was
treated for minor injures
and the suspect was arrested
and charged with first
degree assault and second
degree assault. Officer W.
Halt investigated.

Charged with Being Drug
Dealer
WALDORF —
On August 21 at 1:00
p.m., a Charles County
Sheriff’s officer initiated
a traffic stop in the 2200
block of Crain Highway in
Waldorf after observing a
traffic violation. The
officer observed marijuana
inside the car and arrested
the driver, Archie Jeffrey
Myers, 19, of Capitol
Heights. Myers was charged
with possession with the
intent to distribute and
possession of paraphernalia.

Say Chauffeur Was Working at
Gunpoint
LEXINGTON
PARK — For a man who made
the mistake of going into
the 7-11 in Lexington Park
in the middle of the night,
his encounter with two bad
guys was one he won’t soon
forget.
Police
say that on August 26th St.
Mary’s County BCI detectives
arrested Dajuan Antwan
Stafford, 23, from Lexington
Park and charged him with
Kidnapping, Armed Robbery,
Armed Car Jacking, and
Theft.
The
arrest was the result of an
ongoing investigation into a
July 12th incident at
approximately 1:30 am, in
the 7-11 Store parking lot,
located in Lexington Park
Maryland, where a Lexington
Park man reported that he
was ordered at gun point by
two males to drive them to
Washington DC after using
his ATM card to withdraw
funds in Charles County.
Once in Washington DC, two
additional suspects were
picked up and drugs were
purchased and consumed by
the suspects.
The
victim was then ordered to
return to Lexington Park
where he was ordered to drop
the suspects off. The
investigation continues and
Stafford remains
incarcerated at the St.
Mary’s County Detention
Center where he was already
incarcerated on an unrelated
charge.

Carved Out Criminal Charges
in Party Stabbing
CALIFORNIA — The best way to
liven up a boring party is
to have a stabbing, that way
you get lights, sirens, lots
of cops and body bags if you
do it real good. St. Mary’s
Sheriff’s Deputy Cindy Allen
reports that on August 23rd
at approximately 1230 am.,
police responded to a
residence in the San Souci
neighborhood of California
Maryland for a reported
stabbing. It was determined
that the victim, a 24 year
old Lexington Park man and
Brandon J. Dent, from Great
Mills were both attending a
party at the residence and
began to argue. Dent stabbed
the victim in the arm with a
kitchen knife and fled. St.
Mary’s County Sheriff’s
Deputies located Dent
driving in the area a short
time later and he was
charged by BCI detectives
with 1st Degree Assault and
incarcerated at the St.
Mary’s County Detention
Center. The victim was
treated and released at St.
Mary’s Hospital.

MILLS — Vice Narcotics
Detectives, assisted by the
St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s
Office Emergency Services
Team, executed a Search and
Seizure Warrant on a
residence located in Great
Mills. The target, Corey
Devonne Somerville (PHOTO)
(Age 31 of Great Mills) was
arrested and charged with
Possession of Cocaine,
Possession of Marijuana and
related paraphernalia.
$2,700.00 in cash was also
seized. Additional charges
are pending a State’s
Attorney’s Office review.

08/27/08 Senior Deputy First
Class C. Safford responded
to a residence on Lexwood
Court for a report of a
destruction of property.
Upon arrival he found Samuel
Lee Montgomery, 37 of no
fixed address, standing
outside of a residence
yelling and crying.
Montgomery’s behavior drew
the attention of several
persons in the neighborhood.
SDFC. Safford asked
Montgomery what was wrong
and Mr. Montgomery began to
yell profanity. SDFC.
Safford made contact with
the complainant who stated
Montgomery, who does not
live at the residence,
arrived at the residence
very intoxicated and for no
apparent reason began making
threats against the
complainant and threw items
at the complainant. The
items included a large
wooden type end table. SDFC.
Safford arrested Montgomery
for second degree assault
and disorderly conduct.

Punk Hit Bus Driver in Head
With Books, Arrested for

Cindy Allen reports that on
Wednesday Senior Deputy
First Class B. Connelly
responded to Margaret Brent
Middle School for a report
of an assault. Investigation
revealed a 13 year old,
male, student had been
disorderly on the bus by
yelling profanity on the way
into school. When the bus
arrived at school, the bus
driver contacted the school
staff and the Principal
boarded the bus and made
contact with the student.
The Principal asked the
student to leave the bus and
as the student was exiting
the bus, he (student) threw
his books at the bus driver
striking her in the head and
chest. The student was
arrested and charged with
assault and disturbing a
school operation/activity.

MILLS — St. Mary’s Sheriff’s
Lt. Ricky Burris reports
that on August 28th, St.
Mary’s County BCI detectives
served a Criminal Summons
for Sexual Abuse of a Minor,
on Joseph Norman Herbert,
56, from Great Mills,
Maryland. The charges
stemmed from an
investigation into the
alleged abuse of a 12 year
old girl in 2004, by
Herbert, while she
temporarily resided in his
home.

Deputy Cindy Allen reports
that on 08/27/08 at
approximately 10:00 pm
Deputy First Class P. Handy
responded to a residence in
Lexington Park for a report
of a stolen vehicle.
Investigation revealed on
08/27/08 at approximately
1830 hours a 1993 Jeep
Cherokee was stolen from
Great Mills Lane in
Lexington Park, Maryland.
Witnesses in the
neighborhood reported seeing
a stocky, white, male with
dark hair driving off in the
Jeep. As the Deputy was
talking to the complainant,
a male matching the
description walked past the
Deputy. The witnesses
identified the subject as
the person who drove off in
the Jeep. The subject,
Richard Eugene Briscoe, 29
of Lexington Park, Maryland
was arrested and charged
with theft of a motor
vehicle and theft greater
then $500.00.

Maryland State Police made
the roads safer by a bit
last week when they report
that on 8/20/08 at about 1
am, Tpr. Stern conducted a
traffic stop on the white
Pontiac Grand Prix in the
area of MD Rt2 and MD Rt
260, Owings, MD. Upon
approach to the vehicle,
Tpr. Stern immediately
detected the odor of an
alcoholic beverage and
requested the driver (Heidi
Arthur Taylor, 28 of
Dunkirk) exit the vehicle
and perform field sobriety.
Field sobriety was performed
poorly which subsequently
led to Heidi’s arrest.
Search incident to arrest
revealed a bag of marijuana
in Heidi’s purse. Taylor was
taken to the Calvert County
Detention Center pending a
hearing before the District
Court Commissioner.

report that a car was robbed

at the Wal-Mart at about 11
am on Aug. 21, 2008. Anyone

that on 8/22/08 at 2:30 am,
Tpr. Laziuk stopped a black
Toyota Camry on RT. 261 in

violations. During the
traffic stop the driver
(Richard William Tranmer, 47
of North Beach) was arrested
for DUI. Search incident to
arrest by police revealed a
bag of marijuana in the
vehicle.

CHESAPEAKE BEACH —
Maryland State Police report
that on 08/22/2008 at
approximately 11:30 pm, in
the area of MD Rt. 260, west
of Cox Road, Chesapeake
Beach, MD Tpr. Cavill
stopped a tan Chevrolet 4
door sedan for minor traffic
violations. Upon approach to
the vehicle Tpr. Cavill
detected the odor of
marijuana. Search of the
vehicle revealed a hand
rolled marijuana cigarette.
The driver Shelia Kaye
Edwards, 43 of Lothian, was
arrested and transported to
the Prince Frederick Barrack
for processing. Edwards was
later transported to the
Calvert County Detention
Center pending bond review.

Police report that on
8/18/08 at 4:20 pm, Trooper
Saucerman responded to the
12000 block of Abilene
Trail, Lusby, MD, for the
report of a burglary.
Investigation revealed that
unknown suspect/s/ broke
into the victim’s home while
they were not home and stole
jewelry and a safe. Anyone

FREDERICK — On 8/17/08 at
3:08 pm, Trooper Wiersma
stopped a vehicle for
traffic violations at MD
Route 4 and Ball Road. The
driver, identified as John
Anders Lindstedt, age 24,
Falls Church, VA was
arrested for driving under
the influence of alcohol. A
search revealed that
Lindstedt was also in
possession of marijuana. He
was transported to the
Prince Frederick Barrack for
processing.

On 8/17/08 @ 3:45 am,
Trooper Roy stopped a
vehicle for traffic
violations on MD Route 4 at
Armiger Drive. The driver,
identified as Lemuel Alonzo
Brown, Jr., age 19, Harwood,
MD, was arrested for driving
under the influence of
alcohol. A search revealed
that Brown was also in
possession of cocaine. Brown
was transported to the
Prince Frederick Barrack for
processing.

back to school. The Maryland
State Police is requesting
that motorists be cognizant
of the presence of school
buses and other school
vehicles. Troopers will be
stepping up enforcement of
Maryland traffic laws
related to school bus
safety. Troopers who observe
a motorist failing to stop
and remain stopped for a
school bus can issue the
violator a citation which
carries a fine of $570.00
and 3 points. Drivers
failing to stop for
pedestrians in a crosswalk
can be issued a citation for
$80.00, and drivers failing
to exercise caution when
encountering children can be
issued a citation for
$70.00.

--- Police report that on
07/25/08 the victim, her son
and Ricky Lane Bailey, 24 of
Richmond, Virginia drove to
the Glen Mary Farm in Park
Hall Maryland to attend to
the victim’s horses which
are boarded there. On the
way to the stables the
victim stopped by the bank
and withdrew a large sum of
cash. The cash was placed in
an envelope and then locked
in the glove box of the
victim’s vehicle. Once at
the stables the victim began
attending to her horses. The
keys to the vehicle were
left in her vehicle. A short
time later the victim
observed Mr. Baily seated in
her vehicle with the cash
envelope in his hands. She
also observed Mr. Baily
place something down the
front of his pants. The
victim took the envelope and
counted the money. A one
hundred dollar bill was
missing. She asked Mr.
Bailey for the money and he
denied having it. The victim
told Mr. Baily she was going
to call the police and Mr.
Baily fled. A lookout was
broadcast for Mr. Baily.

Connelly located Ricky Baily
as short time later. Ricky
Baily was arrested and
charged with breaking and
entering a motor vehicle and
theft.
Hell-Raising Lerrel
Earns Way to
Slammer with Mouth
HERMANVILLE --- Police
report that on 07/26/08 at
approximately 1:35 am
deputies responded to
Butler’s Place Bar in
Lexington Park, Maryland for
a report of a fight in
progress involving numerous
individuals. Dfc. Kevin
Meyer arrived and observed
several people standing at
the front door of the bar
arguing. Lerrel Eric Carey,
20 of Lexington Park,
Maryland was yelling loudly
in the direction of Dfc.
Meyer threatening to harm
individuals at the bar.
Lerrel Carey was so
belligerent he was being
restrained by other
individuals. Lerrel Carey
broke free of the restraint,
picked up a glass bottle and
shattered it in the roadway
near Dfc. Meyer. Dfc. Meyer
told Lerrel Carey he was
under arrest for disorderly
conduct. Lerrel Carey
refused to comply with Dfc.
Meyer and resisted arrest.
Lerrel Carey continued to
yell and act disorderly
which continued to incite
the crowd at the bar. Lerrel
Carey then attempted to flee
from Dfc. Meyer. Dfc. Meyer
caught Lerrel Carey. Lerrel
Carey continued to resist
and was finally subdued.
Search incident to arrest
revealed suspected marijuana
on Lerrel Carey’s person.
The
Liberty to be Insane and
Armed
LEXINGTON
PARK --- Police report that
on 07/26/08 at approximately
2:50 am Dfc. Keith Moritz
was on routine patrol in
Lexington Park, Maryland
when he observed
approximately 20 people
standing on Liberty Street.
There had been several fight
calls during the night. Dfc.
Moritz was operating his
marked St. Mary’s County
Sheriff’s Office patrol
cruiser and pulled onto
Liberty Street to
investigate. Dfc. Moritz was
talking to the individuals
when he observed a black
male with a tee shirt pulled
over his head running
towards the crowd yelling
and pointing a handgun
towards the crowd. The crowd
began to run for cover. Dfc.
Moritz took up a tactical
position of cover behind his
cruiser and ordered the
suspect to drop the weapon.
The suspected fled towards
the woods. As the suspect
was running he dropped the
handgun. Dfc. Moritz
broadcast a lookout for the
suspect. As Dfc. Moritz went
to retrieve the handgun a
juvenile male 14 of
Lexington Park picked up the
handgun and attempted to
conceal it in his shorts.
Dfc. Moritz ordered the
juvenile to drop the gun and
the juvenile complied at
first but as Dfc. Moritz
continued to walk towards
the handgun and juvenile
took two steps towards the
handgun again. Dfc. Moritz
was able to separate the
juvenile from the handgun.
As Dfc. Moritz was
attempting to secure the
juvenile and retrieve the
handgun a large crowd
surrounded Dfc. Moritz. Dfc.
Moritz ordered the crowd to
disburse but they refused
and began yelling at Dfc.
Moritz to release the
juvenile. Dfc. Moritz had to
disburse the crowd with
pepper spray. Several other
deputies arrived on the
scene to assist. The handgun
was retrieved and secured.
The juvenile was charged
with possession of a
handgun.
Deputies
were not able to locate the
original suspect that
evening. The investigation
is continuing. No other
suspect information is
available at this time.
