These rescue workers assisted a crash victim on Chancellors Run Road.  Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad is the busiest in the county with more calls each year.  Medic units respond to serious calls around the clock and are staffed by volunteers.

Teen Mugged
On Jan. 8 at 9:25 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Grinder’s Store located at 4450 Chicamuxen Road in Marbury for the report of a strong-arm robbery.
Investigation revealed the victim, a 16-year-old Nanjemoy boy who is an employee, was outside when the suspect came from behind the store, assaulted him, stole an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene. Officers found the suspect at a nearby residence a short time later and arrested him without incident.
Carroll Francis Lee, 48, of Marbury was charged with robbery and second-degree assault and was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner. Officer M. Tyner investigated.

Irate Prisoner Floods Cell, Swings at Guard, Spits in His Face
Deputy James Stone responded to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center for the reported assault. The Inmate (Age 21 of Washington D.C.) flooded his cell block and was being moved to another area of the Detention Center while a clean up was conducted. The Inmate became aggressive and attempted to strike the Correctional Officers. His attempt was unsuccessful and when he was detained he spit in the face of one Correctional Officer and on the person of a second. Additional charges are pending a State’s Attorney Office review.

Woman Bites in Cat Fight
Deputy David Cowan responded to the reported disturbance in a Leonardtown neighborhood. Upon arrival he encountered an intoxicated female later identified as Shenandoah Dornell Benton (Age 30 of Leonardtown). Suspect Benton had bit another female in the face and that victim refused to pursue charges. Suspect Benton acted disorderly and failed numerous times to cease those actions after being warned by Deputy Cowan to do so. She was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct.

Drunk Partying Teens Taken Off the Road
Deputy William White conducted a vehicle stop in California, Maryland and identified the operator of the vehicle as a 15 year old female from Patuxent River, Maryland. The female was arrested with Driving While Intoxicated and various other citations before being processed and released to await a hearing in the Juvenile Court. A second female was also arrested for possession of marijuana. The second suspect was a 16 year old female from Ridge, Maryland.

10 Year Old Arrested for Shooting 11 Year Old
A ten year old Lexington Park female was arrested after shooting another juvenile (an 11 year old male) with a BB gun. The victim was shot in the leg and the forehead. She was processed and released to a guardian to await a hearing in the Juvenile Court. and other. The suspect was processed by Deputy Joseph Labrack and released to a guardian.

Cocaine Express
DFC John “Marty” McCarroll arrested Gregory L. Mercilliott, 40, of Dunkirk for possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia after initiating a traffic stop on Boyd’s Turn Road in Owings on Dec. 16 at 6:40 p.m. Mercilliott had failed to yield the right of way to another vehicle while traveling eastbound on Mt. Harmony Road in Owings, almost causing an accident.

Clam Bake
Dep. John Harms arrested Amanda D. Hoff, 21, of Lowery Road in Huntingtown and charged her with possession of marijuana after finding her and three passengers smoking the suspected controlled dangerous substance in her vehicle parked at the Southern Community Center in Lusby on December 29 at 11:00 p.m.

Drunk, High and Wanted
On Jan. 3, at 2:38 am, TFC Rezza initiated a traffic stop on a 1997 Mazda truck for exceeding the posted speed limit. Contact was made with the driver, Theodore Mark Brooks, 43, of Hollywood and subsequently arrested for DUI. A search incident to arrest revealed a plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana in the vehicle. Further investigation revealed Mr. Brooks was wanted through Calvert County for failing to appear on traffic charges. Mr. Brooks was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center in Leonardtown and charged with possession of CDS and CDS paraphernalia, DUI and other traffic violations.

Carload of Partying Teens Shutdown
On, Dec. 29, at 10:42 pm, Cpl Vanhoy observed a 2004 Toyota passenger car fail to stop at a stop sign on Dahlia Circle at Aster Way in California. A routine traffic stop was initiated for the traffic violation. Contact was made with the driver, Lucas Chamberlain Hammett, 18, of Leonardtown. A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from inside the vehicle. Further investigation revealed the driver and the three passengers, Sydney Lee Lindblad, 18, of Leonardtown, Kathryn May Coble, 18, of Leonardtown and Erin Elizabeth Fairgrieve, 18, of Leonardtown were in possession of alcohol. Civil Citations were issued to the four individuals for possession of an alcohol beverage by a person under 21 years of age.

Purse Snatached
A victim reported to DFC John “Marty” McCarroll that her purse had been stolen from inside her unlocked vehicle on Dec. 18 at 3:00 p.m. The victim had been parked at the Twin Beach Library on Harbor Road in Chesapeake Beach. At 11:30 p.m. that same day, DFC Richard Cress made a traffic stop in Owings and discovered that the driver, identified as Christopher A. Gasch, 26 of Owings, was in possession of the victim’s property. Gasch was charged with theft.

Christmas Gifts Boosted
A home on Lloyd Bowen Road in St. Leonard was burglarized on Christmas day between 12:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The unknown culprits stole one Play Station 2 and one Xbox game player and caused $125.00 in damage. Dep. Richard Weems will continue the investigation.

Cops Catch T.V. Thief with Guns Drawn
An employee of Walmart in Prince Frederick contacted police on December 27 at approximately 9:25 p.m. and advised that he observed a suspect take a 20-inch Sanyo television, valued at over $300.00 out of the store without paying for it. A description of the suspect’s vehicle was given and Det. Christopher Parsons observed the vehicle traveling eastbound on Md. Rt. 231. Parsons pursued the vehicle into Charles County where the Charles County Sheriff’s Office deployed stop-sticks in the area of MD. Route 231 and the Hughesville Fire Department. The vehicle tires were flattened and the vehicle came to a stop in the Mercantile Bank parking lot on Md. Rt. 5. Dfc. Parsons, assisted by Md. State Trooper Stephen M. Keen of the Prince Frederick Barrack, then arrested the driver, identified as Thomas C. Cole, 43 of Waldorf and charged him with theft.

Cash Stolen
On, Dec. 29, at 11:29 am, TFC Koch responded to the 30000 block of Potomac Way in Charlotte Hall for a report of a theft. Upon arrival contact was made with a male, 55, of Lusby. The complainant advised $380.00 in currency was stolen by unknown suspect(s). Investigation continues.



Warrant Arrests and Criminal Summonses

Stacey Synnette Nelson was served a Criminal Summons for passing a worthless check. Deputy Joseph Labrack served the Suspect with her Summons that stated he passed a $207.00 bad check.

Shellie Marie Karis (Age 39 of Mechanicsville) was charged on a Criminal Summons by Deputy Jason Graves with six (6) counts of bad check over $500.00, three (3) counts of theft under $500.00 and Theft Scheme for the numerous worthless checks the suspect has been passing.


Rajabn Delmon Hampton (Age 27 of Prince Frederick) was arrested by Deputy Shawn Carberry for an open Failure to Appear warrant related to non payment of child support.

Anthony Tyrell Robinson (Age 32 of Lexington Park) was arrested by Deputy John Logalbo for an open District Court warrant. The warrant was related to Driving While Suspended and Assault Second Degree.

Corporal Cara D. Grumbles arrested Joseph Allen Horan on an open warrant through the St. Mary’s County District Court for Violation of Probation.

Neomi Santos Lopez (Age 29 of Lexington Park) and Brett Allan Lopez-Robinson (Age 29 of Lexington Park) were arrested on an open Grand Jury Indictments for Possession of Heroin and Possession of Heroin with the intent to distribute. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Criminal Investigations Narcotics Unit and the warrant was served by Deputy William Rishel.

Off duty Deputy Lieutenant Daniel D. Alioto conducted a traffic stop in the Great Mills area on a vehicle that was operating without headlights on. It was found that the operator of the vehicle, Felix Claudio was operating the motor vehicle while intoxicated and without a license. He was arrested and the charging process was conducted by Deputy Douglas Harris.

Ruby Ann Young (Age 43 of Laplata, Maryland) was arrested by Deputy William Rishel on an open Parole Retake Warrant.

Deputy Douglas Harris arrested Scotty Ray Mallette (Age 30 of Lexington Park) on two (2) open warrants. Both warrants were for the Suspect Failing to Pay Child Support.

On Jan. 2, at 2:50 pm, Tpr Shughart arrested John Francis Tippett, Jr., 30, of Lexington Park on an outstanding arrest warrant for Violation of Ex-Parte/Protective Order. Mr. Tippett was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center in Leonardtown pending a bond review.

On Jan. 2, at 7:45 pm, TFC Grimes arrested Raymond Anthony Wright, 45, Lexington Park on an outstanding arrest warrant for First Degree Escape (failing to return from work release). Mr. Wright was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center in Leonardtown pending a bond review.

On Jan. 4, at 3:10 am, TFC Evans arrested Wesley Aaron Scriber, 42, of Callaway on an outstanding Bench Warrant for failing to appear on DWI charges. Mr. Scriber was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center in Leonardtown pending a bond review.

On Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 9:30 am, TFC Trossbach arrested James Larry Cooper, Jr., 34, of Avenue on an outstanding Bench Warrant for failing to appear on CDS charges. Mr. Cooper was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center in Leonardtown pending a bond review.

Deputy Harold Young responded to a local pharmacy and located suspect Anthony Guy Cundiff (Age 39 of Great Mills) inside the store. Deputy Young found that Suspect Cundiff had submitted a fraudulent prescription for filling. He was arrested and charged with Prescription Fraud.

Deputy David Corcoran located and arrested Gary Orlando Harrod on an open Calvert County Sheriff’s Office warrant for Failure to Pay Child Support.

Deputy Zorana Sipos located Antonio Wendell Chase (Age 20 of Lexington Park) and arrested him on an outstanding warrant through Anne Arundel County. An additional warrant was served by Deputy Jaime Reithmeyer for Assault First Degree and theft. That warrant was through St. Mary’s County.

Deputy William Watters arrested Christopher Allan Millstead (Age 22 of Great Mills) was arrested on a Calvert County Warrant for two (2) counts of telephone misuse.

Brian Christopher Hancock (Age 28 of Annapolis, Maryland) was arrested by Deputy David Cowan on an outstanding warrant for multiple counts of theft.

Brandon Ashley Birchfield (Age 21 of Hollywood, Maryland) was arrested by Deputy Zorana Sipos on an open warrant through Worchester County.

Deputy Harold Young arrested Anthony Tyrone Adams on a St. Mary’s County Grand Jury Indictment for Attempted Robbery. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Criminal Investigations.

Alonzo Tyer Preston (Age 33 of Mechanicsville) was arrested on an open warrant by Deputy Margaret Smolarsky. The warrant was a St. Mary’s Count Grand Jury Indictment for Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Criminal Investigations Narcotics Division.

Theodore Xavier Dorsey (Age 45 of No Fixed Address) was arrested by Deputy Patrick Handy for Failure to Pay Child Support.

Deputy Michael George responded to a Piney Point residence to for the reported theft. The suspect of the theft was located at a local Convenient Store. A wanted check revealed an open warrant for the suspect, Brandon James Smith (Age 18 of Piney Point). He was placed into custody when a crack cocaine smoking device and the stolen check was located on his person. Suspect Smith stole the check, forged it and was attempting to cash it when Deputy George arrived.

Harry Magruder Long (Age 26 of Lexington Park) was arrested on an open Calvert County warrant for Violation of Probation. The arresting Officer was Deputy Kevin Meyer.

Katherine Elizabeth Norton (Age 28 of Lexington Park) and Virginia Duane Ortiz (35 of No Fixed Address) were both served a Criminal Summons by Deputy Kevin Meyer for Assault Second Degree. The victim suffered a fracture wrist as a result of the assault committed by the two (2) suspects.

Randy Lee Garner (Age 35 of Leonardtown) was arrested by Corporal Gene Hill on an open warrant through Charles County for Failure to Appear.

Queen Ella Champion (Age 24 of No Fixed Address) was arrested by Deputy Marci Faulkner for Trespassing. Suspect Champion was served with a notice not to trespass and failed to remain off the property.

William Scott Spicer (Age 25 of No Fixed Address) was arrested by Deputy David Cowan on an open warrant for Assault Second Degree and Property Destruction.

Emanuel Jones (Age 30 of No Fixed Address) was arrested by Deputy Mark A. Smith for First Degree Escape. Suspect Jones was sentenced to the Detention Center and failed to return from the Work Release Program.
