Armed Robber Fled Back to PG County After Shooting

 at Cop While Holding Up Liquor Store

WALDORF (March 6, 2009) --- Charles County Sheriff's spokesman Diane Richardson reports that on Feb. 27 at 8:03 p.m., an unknown male wearing dark clothing entered Budd's Liquor located at 2539 Old Washington Road in Waldorf. He displayed a handgun and demanded money.

The employees cooperated with the suspect and he fled on foot.

An off-duty Capitol Police officer pulled into the parking lot as the suspect was fleeing. He followed the suspect north on Route 925 to the parking lot of a nearby business where the suspect got into a dark colored Acura.

As the officer was attempting to get the tag number, the suspect fired one round at him, missing the officer. The suspect fled north to Prince George’s County.
