MULTIPLE VEHICLE CRASH SENDS
FOUR TO AREA HOSPITALS
Huntingtown, MD:
On Monday, July 7, 2008, at approximately 2:20 PM,
a personal injury crash involving four vehicles
occurred on northbound MD Rt. 2-4 near the south
entrance to Cherry Hill Road, Huntingtown, Calvert
County, Maryland. Preliminary investigation
revealed that unrelated emergency
apparatus/equipment were staged at a private
residence adjacent to MD Rt. 2-4 with their
emergency lights activated. Motorists traveling on
northbound MD Rt. 2-4 slowed down upon observing the
emergency vehicles in the private driveway. A
fourth vehicle (1999 Freightliner dump truck loaded
with grain) was unable to reduce its speed and
struck a 1998 Ford Explorer in the rear. This
impact drove the Ford Explorer into the rear of a
2006 Ford Focus which was pushed into a 2000
Oldsmobile van. The drivers of the Freightliner
truck and the 2000 Oldsmobile were not injured. The
driver and passenger of the Ford Explorer were flown
to Shock Trauma (Prince George's County Hospital)
with
serious but not life threatening injuries. The
driver and the passenger of the 2006 Ford Focus were
transported by ambulance to Calvert Memorial
