BALTIMORE  (July 6, 2008) - The Coast Guard reports that they assisted an injured 16-year-old girl on a boat that ran aground in Rhode River in Anne Arundel County, Md., today.

Injured was Alexis Michele Paul.

Watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector Baltimore were notified that a 37-foot yacht had run aground near High Island, and a female aboard the boat sustained a head injury.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Annapolis, Md., launched and was assisted by numerous Good Samaritans on reaching the boat and providing first aid.

Members from the Coast Guard Auxiliary provided transportation for Anne Arundel County paramedics to the boat and were taken back to shore by Anne Arundel Fire and Rescue where Paul was flown to the hospital.

TowBoatU.S. is working with the boat's owner to re-float the grounded boat.

Boaters can use charts to figure out where to drive their boats without running aground on sandbars or onto islands.
