Who Killed Raymond Burrell?
Raymond Burrell, a young black male who was 19 years old
when he was murdered on a snowy January evening next to
Leonardtown Elementary School, in 1980, police say he
had been forced to , or voluntarily did commit a sex act
on several young men before one of them shot him dead,
in the head. Over the years someone who was
there likely talked about this murder and today the
Maryland State Police want to know who did kill Burrell.
Has one of those present and watched this young man
killed in cold blood gotten drunk and told others what
he did. 27 years have passed and there is no
statute of limitations on murder. Burrell's
mother, a longtime worker at the St. Mary's Nursing home
died a couple of years ago. Only justice demands that
those who the killer has told of his guilt come forward.

QUESTION OF THE DAY: ABC7 News story of DC
man robbing migrant workers
Background: ABC 7 reports on
heathens in DC who robs Mexicans working in construction
sites in DC, robbing them of their money, credit cards,
cell phones and jewelry. One contractor in DC last
week was able to strip the gun from a robber, whip the
brains out of the guy who fled leaving a trail of blood
which police were able to follow to his nearby house
where he was arrested. ABC 7's Sam Ford reports
that the man was arrested but when he was taken out of
his house under arrest, ABC7 blocked his face with a
blur patch. ABC 7 did not use the same blur to block the
faces of the robbery victims, who said they are afraid
to continue working in the wonderful city of Washington
DC. While Americans debate the issue of illegal
aliens working in the United States, consider the young
blacks who commit armed robberies now are robbing the
migrant workers while they work at jobs the young blacks
refuse to take.
Should guns be issued to construction workers to shoot
armed robbers on sight? Should all migrant workers
be sent back to where they came from? Should all
young black males be given $5,000 upon turning 18?
Should construction workers just deposit their money in
the bank, pay taxes on their income like everyone else
and if they don't like the local crime, quit bellyaching
and go work somewhere else? Should ABC 7 have shown the
armed robbers face and not protected him?
Send your views to
staff1@stmarystoday.com
robberies abound in DC over last
few days; 10 people were shot in DC
over the weekend...travel to this city should be advised
to do so at your own risk, just like travel warnings are
issued about travel to overseas crime areas. The
bottom line is: The nation's capital is dangerous to
Americans as well as migrant workers at local
construction jobs.
READER FEEDBACK:
Call
them what they are: They are illegal immigrants
depressing wages
From William Sanders -- How about a less
slanted view option? That you call them what they are,
which is "illegal immigrants." And, that you quit saying
"they're doing the jobs Americans won't do." All they do
is depress wages, Cost the taxpayers money, and send
their money back across the border. I guess you missed

they want to than to have dangerous trains roaring

than 500 Rally for Jena Six at Lexington Park

LEXINGTON PARK (Sept. 20)
More than 500 people rallied for the cause of the Jena 6
in Louisiana at the Freedom Monument in downtown
Lexington Park on Thursday evening. In the largest
civil rights rally since the candlelight vigils held for
Claudia Pickeral, a Longview Beach girl who was murdered
and the investigation allowed to be stagnant by former
Sheriff Richard Voorhaar in 1997, the Jena 6 rally was a
first for an entire generation of local citizens who had
never before participated in a public rally designed to
show support for fair and equal application of the law.
Sponsored by the NAACP, the rally was kicked off by St.
Peter Claver Rector, Rev. Damian Shadwell who gave a
stirring prayer for justice. St. Mary's Sheriff
Tim Cameron, Commissioner Dan Raley (D. Great Mills) and
School Board Member Mary Washington were in attendance
along with St. Mary's School Superintendent Dr. Mike
Martirano. ST. MARY'S TODAY photos.

They just don't
float...more from STATter 911

This collection of deer heads, guns and
antlers were taken from a gang of St.
Mary's County poachers in a sting by DNR
cops around 1997. Poachers operate with
spotlights, freezing the deer and then
shoot them. Poaching season runs year
round with the fines and jail sentences
replacing hunting licenses.
Get Bambi before Bambi gets you!
There is no season on using your vehicle
to get a deer...the deer do not have to
observe a season on hunting for cars and
trucks therefore turnabout is fair
play...use caution when driving at night
as herds of deer have been seen as large
as 3 dozen deer...avoid hitting a deer
by driving slow and watching for their
eyeballs to reflect your headlights...do
not approach a downed deer which could
be still alive as the cute little thing
could jump up and do severe damage to an
unsuspecting motorist who is worried
about the bleeding animal...the hoofs
and antlers can rip a person apart in a
split second...most pickup truck drivers
in So. Md. are armed in one way or
another and are glad to stop and help
put the poor deer out its misery and
claim the carcass for the freezer. If
you hit a deer and want it, its all
yours, get a deer tag from a police
officer and load the warm deer into your
backseat and drive to the farm area of
the north end of St. Mary's County and
look for a sign at an Amish or Mennonite
farm that advertises 'field dressing' of
deer or butchering. As recent as
1940 there were very few whitetail deer
in the area as they had been hunted into
near extinction. A few deer
brought to St. Mary's by the late Buck
Briscoe to restore the herds has
resulted in record numbers of deer
throughout Maryland.

Man Assaulted by Two Gangs of Robbing Hoods
Story
Do you have to give your social
security number to State of Maryland officials?
Check with your attorney first, as the Maryland Department of the
Environment is the latest agency to add to the
ever-growing list of government agencies which have had
a lap top with personal information about those they
regulate stolen along with the computer. The MDE
reports in a letter addressed to "John Q. Public" that
an employee's laptop was stolen from a vehicle.
Since laptops are supposed to be portable, the operative
way for the state employee to have handled the laptop,
when not in his or her lap, would be to carry it with
them to keep the devise and the information secure.
State officials claim that they are conducting an
investigation to determine if state policies were
complied with. Secretary Shari Wilson says that
the MDE apologizes for the incident, presumably in a
letter to the many people and firms across the state
which deal with the Water Management Administration.
MDE says that it has notified the three major credit
bureaus and that the information in the computer was
password protected and it is unlikely that anyone would
have figured out how to break the password, like perhaps
the name of the state employee's dog. Fido.
Brownie. Spot. Think twice before you fill
out forms for the State of Maryland.

water. A large island which had years ago
disappeared below the surface is sometimes visible at
extreme low tide but the water above it is shallow
enough to catch boaters who don't bother to use charts.
The Valley Lee fireboat arrived on the scene of the
water rescue and assisted with all rescuers leaving the
scene about 3:45 pm with Tow Boat US taking the stricken
boat under tow to bring it in to shore.

VALLEY LEE (Sept. 4) --- A
St. Mary's Deputy questions a motorist about his truck
after several 911 calls alerted police to his erratic
driving. The man wasn't drunk but had just changed
a tire on his pickup and was having trouble with sway in
the front tire. He was almost home
from his job as a dishwasher and was allowed to continue
home to work on his truck. St. Mary's Sheriff Tim
Cameron is at left. At right, Mark Jerome Mason
was put into a paddy wagon for trip to jail. ST.

The greatly expanded commuter bus lot
at Charlotte Hall is busier than ever having been
tripled in size. Still, no plans have been
announced by Maryland to put commuter trains into the
Southern Maryland region despite a Transportation
Commission being established by the General Assembly and
support for commuter rail by Gov. Martin O'Malley.
