Home James!  But he didn’t go…the Butler Did It!

LEONARDTOWN  --- St. Mary’s Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Cindy Allen reports that on February 29, 2008 Dfc. Chris Byrd and Dfc. Stephen Simonds responded to Eddie Nelson Road in Leonardtown, Maryland for a report of a disturbance.  Investigation revealed, James Edward Butler Jr., 67, Leonardtown, Maryland was told numerous times to leave the victim’s property.  James Butler and the victim are relatives and neighbors.  Once James Butler left the victim’s property and returned home, he began making harassing telephone calls to the victim’s residence.  The victim told James Butler to stop calling her residence.  The victim reported to the deputies James Butler was intoxicated and she did not want him to trespass on her property or call her residence. While the deputies were at the victim’s residence James Butler again called the victim.  The victim, in the presence of the deputies, told Mr. Butler not to call or trespass on her property.  The deputies observed James Butler’s telephone number on the victim’s caller identification.  The deputies personally contacted James Butler and told him if contact the victim again he would be arrested.  A short time later, while the deputies were still in the vicinity of the victim’s residence, James Butler contacted the victim by telephone.  James Butler was arrested and charged with trespassing, harassment and telephone misuse.
