Trooper Arrested for Theft from State Police

BALTIMORE - Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler today announced the arrest of Maryland State Police trooper Andrew A. Mohan, 36, following his indictment in Prince George’s County on charges of theft of money from the Maryland State Police and Misconduct In Office.

The indictment alleges that Mohan stole money from the Maryland State Police (MSP) totaling over $3,200. It is also alleged that TFC Mohan misused his official police duties to improperly access and disseminate restricted criminal records information and motor vehicle registration information in State and federal data systems. The pending case was investigated by the Maryland State Police and the Criminal Division of the Maryland Attorney General’s Office. No trial date has been set.

Cops Make Arrest in Burchmart Robbery

MECHANICSVILLE — St. Mary’s Sheriff’s and State Police detectives report that on December 16th, St. Mary’s County BCI detectives arrested Mark Travis Grove, 25 years of age, from Mechanicsville, for the November 26th armed robbery of the Mechanicsville Burchmart, as well as four thefts from motor vehicles and an ATV theft which all occurred in the Country Lakes area of Mechanicsville, between November 23rd and 25th. Grove was charged with Armed Robbery, First Degree Assault, Theft, and Theft Scheme. He was incarcerated in the St. Mary’s County Detention Center.

LEXINGTON PARK — More pressure has been put on the drug business in Lexington Park, causing the supply to be tight while the demand from stupid drug users remains high. New drug dealers are urgently needed but must first obtain business licenses from Lt. Daniel Alioto at the Sheriff’s Dept.

Police say that Vice Narcotics Detectives executed Search and Seizure Warrants on the home and vehicle of Kodi Tevon Robinson (Age 28 of Lexington Park). Between the two locations nearly one (1) pound of marijuana was recovered as well as cocaine and a handgun. Suspect Robinson is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm. He was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute, Felon in Possess of a Handgun and Possession of Cocaine. Additional charges are pending a State’s Attorney’s Office review.

Vice Narcotics Detectives indicted Lawrence Clifton Bankins (Age 25 of Lexington Park) for felony drug and weapons violations related to a Search Warrant that was executed on his residence in September of 2008.

Gary Wayne Harper Jr. (Age 35 of Mechanicsville) was arrested after Vice Narcotics Detectives indicted him for possession of various steroids with the intent to distribute. The initial warrant was a "No Bond" warrant.

Coast Guard rescues 2 near Thorofare Island

CHESAPEAKE BAY — The Coast Guard rescued two people after they ran aground near Thorofare Island, Md., in the Chesapeake Bay Friday, Dec. 19, 2008.Rescued were Paul Youngk and Rob Ward.Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Baltimore received a distress call via marine-band radio from the operator of the Mamie, a 43-foot sailboat, requesting removal from their boat after running aground at about 6:07 p.m. At 6:55 p.m., a 41-foot utility boat crew from Coast Guard Station Crisfield, Md., arrived on scene and removed the two people from their boat. The boat will remain anchored overnight and will be retrieved in the morning.
