Cops find Moore; he sure didn't stay in the N0-Tell Motel!
NIAGARA FALLS (July 26, 2010) --- Capt. Terry Black reports that the St. Mary's County Mounties got their man when local flatfoots went international to lay the long arm of the law on a suspected killer.
Police say that on July 26, 2010 detectives from the Bureau of Criminal Investigations, with assistance from the United States Marshal’s Regional Fugitive Task Force, Maryland State Police and the St. Mary’s County States Attorney’s Office information was developed Benjamin (NMN) Moore of Lexington Park, who was wanted on a Second Degree Murder warrant in connection with the disappearance of Devon A. Baker, was staying at the Day’s Inn Hotel in Niagara Fall’s, Canada. Canadian authorities were notified and were able to locate Mr. Moore outside the hotel where he was taken into custody without incident. Mr. Moore is currently being held in Canada pending extradition proceedings.
LEONARDTOWN (July 26, 2010) St. Mary's Sheriff Tim Cameron told ST. MARY'S TODAY that his detectives are on the trail of the person they believe killed a woman who had been sought as missing for the past week after police in New Jersey discovered her slain and laying next to a creek bed, in a scene right out of the HBO series 'The Sopranos'. But the suspect isn't hanging around in any North Jersey spaghetti houses as police are seeking him in Virginia or Canada instead.
Sheriff Cameron could not reveal how the police had pinpointed the identity of the dead woman found who has been identified as Baker. He said information about the manner of death was not yet set but the case "definitely is one of homicide". While the Sheriff and his closed-mouth detectives would not say how the police linked the body as being that of Devon Baker, the NJ.com reported that a fisherman found her body near a bridge over a creek and that police found identification on her body.
Just a few months ago Cameron and St. Mary's States Attorney were pointing to zero cases of murder in the past year in St. Mary's County, when the truth of the matter may be that the bodies were simply not discovered. Police are not yet revealing where they think this murder took place, but Baker was not reported to be vulnerable or suffering from any physical or mental impairments which is often the case with missing persons.
