TROOPERS NAB 29 STOLEN GUNS

LA PLATA --- On November 30, 2006, TFC S. Keen stopped a 1986 Cadillac for routine traffic violations. The vehicle was driven by a 24 year old black male identified as Kurron Derrel Brown of the 4000 block of Mitchell Road, La Plata MD. The vehicle was stopped in the parking lot of the Sunoco gas station, located at Rt. 301 and Rt. 6, in La Plata, Charles County, MD just after 1:50 P.M.

During the course of the traffic stop, Tfc. Keen used a drug detecting K9 to scan the violator’s vehicle.  The K9 subsequently alerted to the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.  A probable cause search of the vehicle failed to produce any controlled dangerous substances.  However, upon searching the trunk of the vehicle, Tfc. Keen discovered multiple firearms.  A total of eleven (11) semi-automatic handguns, two (2) revolvers, two (2) muzzle loading rifles, five (5) shotguns and nine (9) rifles were recovered from the vehicle.  The three occupants of the vehicle denied having any knowledge of the firearms being in the vehicle.  At this point, Tpr. R. Hill, of the La Plata Barrack assumed the investigation

The right front passenger was identified as Charles (NMN) Davis 4th, a 25 year old black male from the 3100 block of Gladstone Court in Waldorf.  The rear passenger was identified as Shawn Maurice Price, and 18 year old white male from the 5900 block of Walleye Court in Waldorf.  Tfc. Keen placed all three suspects under arrest for transporting a handgun in a vehicle.  They were subsequently transported to the La Plata Barrack.

An investigation revealed the three men had been involved in a burglary to a residence located in the 9100 block of Lindy Lane in La Plata earlier in the day.  The homeowner reported the theft of his firearms and the burglary to his residence at approximately 8:00 P.M. on the same date.

All three men have been charged with First Degree Burglary, Felony and Misdemeanor Theft, Possession of a regulated stolen firearm, and transporting a firearm in a vehicle.  They were taken to the Charles County Detention Center where they were held pending a bail review.
