Lt. John Horne Will Be Appointed New St. Mary's Sheriff's Captain, Assume Post of Assistant Sheriff on December 4th along with swearing in of all deputies under new Sheriff Tim Cameron....Horne briefly served once before as Captain for several months when Capt. Steven Doolan was demoted as the infamous Loot investigation heated up...Horne was diverted back to his permanent rank when Sheriff David Zylak reached down in the ranks to Sgt. Kenny Cusic and appointed him as his captain in Dec. of 2002. Zylak attempted an end run around the personnel rules this past week when he tried to give Cusic a promotion to the rank of Lieutenant, but no such position existed and the move was blocked. Cusic now will return to a posting as a squad sergeant.
