Joseph Gabriel Bowman

Joseph Gabriel Bowman, 41, of Chaptico, MD, died on Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
Born on February 23, 1962 in Leonardtown, he was the son of John Thomas Bowman of Waldorf, MD and Catherine Elaine Mills Bowman of Chaptico, MD. Mr. Bowman was a construction worker. He was an avid basketball and football fan. He enjoyed playing and watching the games and also loved music.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children, Shacona Barnes of LaPlata, MD, Lamont Barnes of Lexington Park, MD, Rhonda Curtis of Arizona, three sisters, Debra Shorter of Budds Creek, MD, Belinda Barnes of Silver Spring, MD, Darcey Jenifer of Waldorf, MD a half-brother, Alex Bowman of Lexington Park, MD, and three grandchildren, Miya Barnes of Lexington Park, MD, Anthony Curtis of Arizona and Michael Jenifer, Jr. of LaPlata, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church by Reverend David Waring. Interment followed in Sacred Heart Church Cemetery in Bushwood, MD.
Serving as pallbearers were Tony Bowman, Francis Evans, Wayne Mills, Alvin Whalen, Wayne Barnes and Marty Holt. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Alvin Thomas, Raymond Holt, Jr., Desales Mills, Ricky Herbert, Derek Bowman and Carl Bowman.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 14435 Cherry Lane Court, Suite 310, Laurel, MD 20707.

Lawrence Raymond Wedding
83, of Nanjemoy
Lawrence Raymond Wedding, 83, of Nanjemoy died June 3, 2003, at Civista Medical Center, La Plata. He was a vehicle operator at the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head and was a farmer. Born Aprill 22, 1920, in Welcome, he was the son of the late Ernest Wedding and the late Betty Wedding. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Wedding; and four brothers and five sisters. He is survived by his son, Charles Wedding of Arlington, Va.; daughters, Betty Wedding Welch of Nanjemoy, Gina Risko of Ironsides, Rita Wedding of La Plata and Mary Lou Lusby of Indian Head; sister, Pearl Carlson of Clinton; grandchildren, Michelle Halley, Lisa Simmons, Brandi Sorzano, Amber Lusby and Ray Stickel; and great-grandchildren, Jessie and Brent Stickle and Brandon Simmons. Services and burial were at Nanjemony Baptist Church, Nanjemoy. The Rev. James Fetty officiated. Pallbearers were Kenny Scott, Dwight Halley, Ray Stickel, George Simmons IV, Bill Peterman and Ricky Lusby. Arrangements were handled by Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata.

Harryette Cecelia Bush
70, of Silver Hill
Harryett Cecelia Bush, 70, of Silver Hill died June 2, 2003, at Providence Hospital, Washington, D.C. She was a homemaker. Born Feb. 2, 1933, in Marbury, she was the daughter of the late Russell Gray and the late Mary Bell Gray. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Lawrence A. Bush of Silver Hill; sons, Lyle I. Bush of Silver Hill and Lawrence C. "Larry" Bush of Waldorf; daughters, Cheryl Adrianne Bush of Fairfax, Va., and Julie C. Humphery of Crofton; son-in-law, Bob Humphery of Crofton; daughters-in-law, Bonnie Bush of Silver Hill and Dawn Bush of Waldorf; and grandchildren, Jennifer and Nicholas Humphery and Logan, Bianca, and Angelina Bush. Visitation was held June 6 at St. Ignatius Church, Port Tobacco. The Rev. Salvador Jordan officiated. Burial took place at St. Charles Cemetery, Glymont. Pallbearers were Bob Humphrey, Alan Mannius, Michael Welch, Dwayne Gray, Silas Gray and Crocket Gray. Honorary pallbearers were Schirra Grey, Mark Grey and Monte Newman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in memory of Colin Humphrey. Arrangements were handled by Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata.

Lloyd Leon Hedges,
Air Force Veteran
Lloyd Leon Hedges, 66, of Brandywine died May 30, 2003 at his residence. He was a retired supervisor for the U.S. Government at Naval Ordinance Station, Indian Head. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was also a life long member of the Indian Head Volunteer Fire Department. Born February 4, 1937, in Brandywine, Maryland. He was the son of the late, Tilton Elsworth Hedges and Myrtle Edith Hedges. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Willard Hedges, and Vernard Hedges; and one sister, Louise Cotrufo. He is survived by his brothers and sister, Milton C. Hedges, of Indian Head, Md., Harold T. Hedges, Vero Beach, Fl., Hazel C. Cockerham, of Topeka, Ks., Leonard P. Hedges, of Littlefield, Tx., Elvan A. Hedges, of Bryans Road, Md., and Floyd L. Hedges, of Tacoma, Wa. Pallbearers were Mike Hedges, Ralph Hedges, Roger Hedges, Janet Fogle, Dennis Scheesslee, and Dave McDonnell. Memorial contributions may be made to Indian Head Volunteer Fire Department, 4095 Indian Head Highway, Indian Head, Maryland 20640. Arrangements are being handled by Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata.

Margaret Ann Brooks "Maggie"
On June 8, 2003. The beloved wife of the late Joseph C. Brooks; lifelong partner and companion of Joseph F. LaBille Sr.; mother of the LaBille children and their spouses, James G and Pamela, Jospeh F. Jr., and friend, Vickie O'Dell, Timothy P. and Jennifer, Catherine Ann, Lawrence M. and Sandra, Thomas C. and Christina, Charles R. and Melissa; grandmother of the joys of her life, 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister of Lorraine C. Morrison and aunt of numberous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Society.

On Tuesday, June 3, 2003 of Lusby, Maryland. Husband of Lisa Murphy Gray and loving father of Ashley, Angela, Ian, and Austin Gray; loving son of Betty J. and the late Hugh Edward Gray; brother of Christopher and William Gray and Mary Beth Thomas.
Harvey Thomas Mattingly, Sr.
On June 7, 2003 of Forestville, MD. Beloved husband of Mary E. Mattingly; devoted father of Evelyn V. Bassett, Harvey T. (Barbara) Jr., John P. (Barbara), Ronald E. (Pennie), David W. and James E. Mattingly. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, a sister, other relatives and friends.

On Thursday, June 5, 2003 of Calvert County, Maryland. Beloved wife of the late Berkley L. Pangle; loving mother of Robert L. Pangle and Sharyn L. Hardman; loving grandmother of Richard A. Thomas, Jr., Michelle L. Gott, Tanya L. Cable, Jennifer M. Pangle, Kristine N. Pangle and Timmy Hardman; great-grandmother of Windi M. Gott, Miranda G. Cable, Chase A. Thomas and Caroline A. Cable.
