The Department of the Interior is advertising for a new chief of the United States Park Police again! Visit www.HonestChief.com for the latest details after reading an overall case update below:
It's been more than nine months since I last wrote you, and our case still marches on. You will recall that we finally had an opportunity in November 2007 to present oral arguments to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. In February 2008, the appeals court determined that the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) applied an incorrect standard in its failure to provide whistleblower protection status in my case and sent the case back to the MSPB to correct its failure. This marked only the third time out of 186 whistleblower cases between October 1994 and February 2008 in which the court ruled in favor of the whistleblower. A well written review of this ruling was published in the Legal Times and is linked on my husband's website, www.HonestChief.com (look for the Halt, in the Name of Public Safety button). Take a few minutes to read the article and learn more about the significance of this ruling.
We wait 'patiently and persistently' for the results of this remand to the MSPB. My optimism still looks forward to the day that someone in the administration any administration will stop this nonsense and right the wrongs that were perpetrated by certain officials in the National Park Service and Department of the Interior. This case can still be remedied with the stroke of a pen.
In the meantime, the final person involved in this outrage Deputy Assistant Secretary Paul Hoffman abandoned ship. A link to PEER's press release about Paul's departure can also be found on www.HonestChief.com.
Thank you for your continued interest, words of supports, and visits to www.HonestChief.com. We remain grateful and humbled by your support.
