P. G. Police Urge Caution After Springmaid Lane Rape

Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a sexual assault that occurred in the 4700 block of Springmaid Lane.

On November 18, 2006, at approximately 5:30 a.m., the suspect broke into the victim’s residence and produced a handgun. He demanded money, sexually assaulted the victim and fled. After the suspect fled, the victim called police.

The suspect is described as a black male in his mid 30’s, approximately 5’5” tall and wearing a black ski mask and dark clothes. He displayed a black handgun.

While this assault appears unrelated to others reported recently, officers are reminding and urging residents to remain vigilant.

“If there is a vehicle or a person in your neighborhood who make you feel uncomfortable, don’t hesitate to call us,” said Major Daniel Dusseau, Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division. “We solve a lot of cases that way.”

Anyone with information about the identity of this suspect is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit at (301) 772-4908. Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. A cash reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for the tip that leads to the arrest and indictment of the suspect.
