Are you one of the many former readers of the Washington Post, what used to be a classic and great newspaper, and are wondering what you are missing.  The Post ran a story on Dec. 11th about the ties between Rezko and Obama and among the many reader comments was this gem chewing out the two silly reporters who wrote the news story:

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge was first proposed in 1929 but was put on hold due to the Great Depression.  In the late 1930's it was again brought forth to connect the two shores of the Bay.  But WWII was thrust upon the nation with the sneak attack of the Japs at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941 and again the project was put on hold.  After WWII was over in 1945, the bridge was championed by Maryland Governor William Preston Lane Jr. and he forced through an increase in the state sales tax of one cent to fund it's construction.  He was taunted by the cry of 'pennies for Lane' and he was defeated for reelection but the bridge opened in July of 1952 at a cost of $45 million.  A second span was built in late sixties at a cost of $148 million.   Now a new span is possible at the only feasible place, the narrowest area of the Bay between Calvert County and Talbot County on the Eastern Shore.

When the dumb Bush White House hosts world leaders to ponder the sagging world economy, they should have had black coffee but no, they got out $500 a bottle wine...sure, Obama will certainly do the same thing, which is why if you are counting on America being 'fixed' by anyone's idiots in DC, of either party, forget it.  Real leadership starts in every home in America, black or white, rich or poor.  The recovery of this nation will began with families making better decisions about how they spend their money and demanding that their local governments do the same.  The G20 meeting is a step in the right direction, at least new barriers to fair trade won't be thrown up by the world.   A similar meeting was held at Breton Woods in New Hampshire in 1944 which led to the creation of the World Bank and other international financial structures.  More on these Weekend Warriors from Forbes.

But you can start in your town and your county and get smart people to run on effective and accountable government platforms in either major party.

The wine in the White House has likely been stored in the wine cellar for a year or more but the symbolism is overwhelming.  A good stiff drink of an American whiskey like Jack Daniels might have been better.  But just wait until the Obama crowd takes over and they start celebrating.  It will be a field day for us to track their excesses.



Bring back Victory Gardens
But the nation must get better, and it can all start at home.  Families will prosper when they plant a garden in the backyard next spring.  A solid family activity in planning, planting and maintaining the garden will help mold and unify the family, get kids and parents working together.  Its nice for all of the running around to soccer and other activities, they're all beneficial, but a family garden will provide additional benefits besides the fresh tomatoes and green peppers. 
Working on a budget instead of the consumer driven insatiable appetite for the newest and the best will help families stay on an even course, or return to one.  Then you must demand that your local elected officials do the same thing with your tax money.  The big national bender is over and you must make it clear to your lawmakers that not only will you not fork over more tax money but you want and will demand that taxes be cut.  The blood suckers must be told that there is no more moola. The waste, fraud and abuse are outlandish.
The fat and the obese will sweat on pulling weeds, blood pressure will drop and people will be healthier.  Victory Gardens helped America win the war by providing fresh produce on the home front and allowed even children to produce and aid the war effort.  We are not only in  an active war with Islamic Radicals who want to destroy America but we have an economy which is on the brink of destruction but can be fixed with common sense.
What exactly did we expect would happen when you have the mental midgets in Congress give $700 billion to Republicans to dole out to their favorite banks?  Now Paulson says they did it wrong for the past month. Gee whiz.
The Democrats led by Pelosi are numb-struck with power and hopefully will pull every left wing loony idea out of their ample dungeons of Marxist philosophy and expose their dangerous and silly ideas which don't have enough substance to fill a teabag to the light of day. 
When you pull weeds and hoe between rows, you can also cuss the high and mighty who put less thought into blowing through $700 Billion of your money than you can on planning your Victory Garden.  Here are some tips

Maryland's own Babs the Senator has proposed a plan for sales tax credits for those buying a car as well the interest on the new car.  This sawed-off little dipstick from Baltimore doesn't want anyone making more than $250,000 a year to be a recipient of her plan.  Heck, those folks won't finance the car anyway unless its at Zero percent like Toyota is offering and therefore there will be no interest deduction. Anyone with any brains ain't going to buy a new car from a company about to go bankrupt, either in the next 30 days or six months from now, so what the hell does this all do anyway?  The Democrats think that winning the election means they have brains. No, they don't have brains, they just got the votes of people frustrated with the idiotic Republicans, who want to use bailout money only for banks.  Let folks who want to buy a car get a $5,000 voucher to buy the new car or truck of their choice.

Banks on Wall Street still plan to hand out end of the year bonuses to their best producers in spite of the Flushed Economy.  So the clerks, secretaries, waiters, taxi drivers, and other working stiffs get their jobs wiped out but the joy boys keep on getting the real steal.  Gee. And the US government is a stockholder in many of these banks.  There are some cranky old cusses who would show up at other corporate meetings, like at GE and raise hell with the management who are turning them into junk bond status.  Who from the US government shows up on the behalf of the taxpayers to gripe about lavish resort visits and billions in bonuses.

Bailout?  General Motors just had it's 100th birthday in September, now it might go out of business before the end of the year....1000 auto dealers have closed, the Big 3 On Bended Knee...why give these jerks a penny?  Instead, let taxpayers get a stipend for use in buying the vehicle of their choice and let the Big 3 go bankrupt, reorganize, shed the labor union contracts and become competitive with the Japs....or...bail 'em out
