Two Arrested in OCI Pub Stabbing
PINEY POINT --- St.
Mary's Sheriff's Deputies and State Police investigators in the joint task force known as
the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, tracked down a man who allegedly stabbed another
during a fight early Sunday morning at the OCI bar, a notorious landmark of hooliganism
over the years, while the victim was flown to a hospital.
On February 8th, 2004 at approximately 1:10 AM
members of the Maryland State Police and St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office responded to
the O.C.I. Pub located in Piney Point, MD for the reported stabbing. A victim, identified
as Gary Gates Maxson, was discovered sufferring from one or more lacerations to his torso
area and was flown by Trooper 7 to the Prince Georges Shock Trauma Unit. The victim
underwent surgery and is currently listed in Critical Condition. A suspect, identified as
Michael Wayne Watson, was located a short distance from the establishment and it was
discovered an associate, identified as Tony Patrick Evans, assisted suspect Watson in
fleeing the area after the incident. Detectives from the St. Mary's County Bureau of
Criminal Investigations (BCI) further investigated the incident and it was determined
suspect Watson assaulted the victim with a knife resulting from a dispute bewteen the two
from within the O.C.I. Pub. The suspect was later placed under arrest and charged with
Assault 1st Degree and Assault 2nd Degree. Tony Evans was also
placed under arrest and charged with Accessory After The Fact for assisting suspect Watson
with escaping from the scene. Both are currently incarcerated at the St. Mary's County
Detention Center waiting their appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
