A Very Little Man

     Last week while watching Hannity and Colmes, they presented a gentlemen by the name of Michael Crook to discuss his website titled, “Forsake the Troops.” As a military mom and staunch supporter of our military, the intro perked my interest, after all this is America and freedom of speech is one of our fundamental rights, even when I don’t agree with what they say.

     I expected to listen to someone who through thoughtful insight and a mastery of history both political and military to present his arguments against the military. One of the first things I noticed about Mr. Crook was his greasy hair hanging down over half of his face and the arrogant smirk on his face. The second impression Mr. Crook made was a total lack of communication skills; if the words were not degrading and insulting he could not manage to string together a coherent sentence.

     Mr. Crook explained on his website his lack of any thought process as “…getting beat up on right out of the gate caused my mind just to go blank.” After reading Mr. Crook’s comments on his website regarding our military, I have difficulty accepting his excuse, the only logical conclusion I can reach is plain and simple, Mr. Crook’s wheel is spinning, however the hamster is no longer running.  To further attempt to defend his lack of skills Mr. Crook referred to Hannity and Colmes as “ignorant, rude jerks.”

     Even though Alan Colmes and I can’t even agree on what day it is I have never found him to be rude and ignorant only in the sense that we are on opposite sides on both political and social issues, but he always makes the case for his views, he is one of the few liberals I respect. I will admit that Sean Hannity can get a little testy when you refer to a U.S. Soldier “as the poster child for retroactive abortion.”

     I visited Mr. Crook’s website in an effort to understand his intense opposition to our military. Unfortunately Mr. Crook’s writing skills are as poor as his verbal skills. With such statements as, “the military is a lifestyle these morons chose. What idiot risks their life for a country…. Hopefully they knew in their hearts this is abusing taxpayers money…Let them die in combat—we don’t need their ink in this country.”

However, I did discover a very insecure little man filled with self-loathing and hatred.

Mr. Crook goes on to describe our military men and women as “McDonald’s rejects, leeches, scumbags, idiot soldiers, and military pukes.” Mr. Crook also included vulgar sexual references to several writers who disagreed with his statements. After quite a lengthy search of the website I could find no rational basis for Mr. Crook’s statements.

However, I did discover a very insecure little man filled with self-loathing and hatred. By the time I exited his website I began to feel sorry for Mr. Crook, how awful to feel that you are such a waste of flesh. The men and women who serve this country are strong enough to handle such a little man, but the hurt his words causes the families of these soldiers is almost inexcusable, until you realize the type of person you are listening to.

     He continually taunts those in uniform to come and get him, in law enforcement he would be known as a “suicide by cop” meaning one who wants to go out in a blaze of glory but can’t pull the trigger himself. While reading his words it becomes glaringly apparent that Mr. Crook feels dying at the hands of a person in the military would be his final validation.

     I don’t know where Mr. Crook’s self-loathing came from, maybe he attempted to join the military, but for whatever reason was rejected, so now he feels he must climb on top through degrading and insulting the very ones who allow him to so freely express his opinions. Or maybe he feels that making a dollar off of their blood some way justifies his existence by making him appear smarter than those who gave all. I can only say this man would be a therapist’s dream, such a mind is rarely seen, I am at least be thankful for that.

                Mr. Crook has now received his fifteen minutes of fame if you find him as pathetic and offensive as I do, don’t post anything on his website, this takes away his avenue to further spew his hatred. Nothing you write will change his little mind. When you attack him you just add another step into his delusional world of self made granger.  To place him back into obscurity would be the most hurtful wound you could inflict on one such as him.
